I was just saying I would be willing to go that high

we're gunna have pick 1 in the pre season draft, just let him walk to that and hang on to the top 10 pick

although if we aren't the only team he chooses we can trade to carlton for pick 9, fitz or watts or both could be traded for maybe robinson and pick 9

Given I have no care for GWS and refuse to waste 2 hours of my time to watch them play, I have never seen nor heard of this kid.

Can someone that will give a realistic appraisal of him please inform me why we should be doing our nuts over this bloke? I have them there to do, but I'm quite selective who I do them over these days.

Never even heard of him?

I think Caddy is a similar type.

Adams is a bit more of a hothead though.

reckon Mark Jamar and pick 20 would get the job done in a trade?

It all depends on how willing he is to come to us or leave GWS.

If he is half hearted we may have to pay overs but if he is willing to walk away from GWS if they don't trade him then we may be able to snare a good trade.

If we field the best offer to him with loads of cash he may say - trade me to Melbourne or I will go through the draft.

If he is willing to be traded to several Victorian clubs then forget about Jamar and pick 20!

No.

Adams is a very good player, GWS will want significantly more than we can offer for him.

In my ideal world we'd get pick 1 as a priority pick, trade it to GWS for pick 2 and Adams. Would love to try to get their pick 10-ish too in the deal.

That would actually be a great deal for us because we don't need Boyd anyway. I would just be stoked with trading pick 1 to 2 (without the extra pick - that's optimistic)

But do you really think GWS want pick 1?

I think if they end up with it, they'll trade it to Lions/Dogs/Freo/Saints/Carlton.

So why would they give up Adams to get it?

More likely a messy 3 way trade with us getting Adams and pick 6ish

I don't know much about him but Tom Bell of Carlton is a big strong midfielder but can't get a game there. How's his disposal?

Disposal is Ordinary. If he has a modicum of talent then surely the Blues would not trade him given their own midfield woes and the imminent retirements of the likes of Judd, Carrazo and Simpson.

Question is "why" come to Melbourne apart from Money or for fringe players to "get a game".

Targets as at 8 June:

- Dylan Shiel (GWS) 3years $$$

- Taylor Adams (GWS) 3years $$$

Fringe:

- Maverick Weller (Suns)

- Liam Anthony (Kangas)

- Mitch Hallahan (Hawks)

- Jarryd Lyons (Crows)

- Aiden Riley (Crows)

- Matthew Jaensch (Crows)

I say we have a crack at both of them. Heaps of cash and throw in Jamar.. They need a ruckman and say pick 2?

Adams & Boyd!

(Adopt a long-term view of multiple Finals appearances by picking up Boyd as well. We want to have the list that the other clubs envy rather than the reverse situation as at present!)

It's not just dollars. We would have to deal with GWS in trade situation. I think that our second rounder would get him. GWS would have to deal with whoever his choice of new club is and if they don't concede somewhat then he could threaten to walk into the PSD and threaten to not 'turn up' if they took him with PSD pick 1. Guess who has pick 2 in the PSD?

This might be a good test of the new presidents "ruthless" club.

We need to land this kid. A tough inside midfielder who consistently finds ball. He's already averaging more disposals than nearly all our mids.

If we can get him for a 2nd round pick or even in the PSD if he walks, then we have a bargain. He will give the club 10 years of service as a tough consistent inside midfielder. Jones, Viney, Adams is a good starting trio at the centre bounce!

This guy is my number 1 offseason target. Second round pick won't get it done though. Jamar, plus second round pick might....

If the rumors are true and he wants to come home to Victoria, we need to offer him a good deal so he nominates us as his preferred choice. If GWS don't play ball then he could walk to the PSD and we get him for nothing with PSD #2. A 2nd round pick would be a decent option in the end if they have to lose him and are forced to play ball.

He won't go to the PSD. Lots of clubs will be after him, so let's forget that idea.

Is rumoured to have said he wants to come home, is yet to re-sign also, but I've heard from various places that he doesn't want to come to MFC, however that was in the pre-Roos era, so may have changed.

Again I say, second round pick won't be enough. Was drafted at pick 13 and has shown great promise since. Let's be realistic.

Adams would be a huge get! good age bracket to balance the lack of experience in the middle.

However id like to see the club trade Watts to get this done and still have our top pick(s) to draft aish, scharenberg etc depending if they hand out a PP. Then a Daniel Cross in free agency. I think that would be a very balanced injection of talent on to the list, not including another couple of mids from the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

Watts has talent but I think his greatest value to MFC now is at the trade table. He alone wont be enough to get Adams but he is still enough to garner interest. Perhaps part of a 3 way trade to Carlton.

If the AFL give us the 1st pick Im now tending toward taking Boyd. I know we need midfielders midfielders midfielders but talent is talent and to shore up our KPF stocks for the next decade with a Boyd Hogan tandem would be a great result I think. Its far easier to secure decent mids late 1st round and 2nd round than gun KPP's. Even if it meant having some trade currency down the track.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
