Colin Garland - 100 Games

Congratulations to Colin Garland who will play his 100th this Saturday against Adelaide. Without a doubt, he's been one of our most important and consistant players this year. Good on you Col!

I assumed he had played more than that. Guess he is still young(ish) an didn't have a great run with injuries early on. Congrats Col, I must admit I have had my doubts at certain times but he is one of only few reliable players we have, and happy to say I was wrong.

Congrats to Garlo, I reckon he'll go close to winning the B&F this year. He's worked hard to get to 100 games, heres to 100 more!

Admire Col Garland greatly. I hope the Dees improve quickly and play finals soon to reward players like him who have endured so much strife. Congrats on 100 games and a wonderful 2013.

On another point and a bit of a tangent, is he a smoky for captain in 2014? His media work is better than anyone else at the club, he is articulate and thought provoking, he has genuine passion for the club and the jumper, leads on the field even when we are losing by 100 points and has had to work hard to get to where he is. Thoughts?

Feels like he's been around forever doesn't it? He is only 25 and is now a solid, reliable defender. His improvement has been there for all to see over the years, and this year he's taken it up another level again, showing many of our other players the way they should be approaching the game. Well done Colin, you're one of the few that has done me proud this year.

Well done Garlo, hopefully we'll see him running around for another 100+ games.

I'd be happy to see him made VC to Jones.

Love Garlo, and admire the way he has gone about his footy, especially this year. He has really taken it upon himself, along with just a handful of others, to turn this club around and stand up when it counts.

Congrats on 100 games and here is to 100 more, and hopefully some wins in there too.

From delist fodder in 2008 to where he is today...

It's a lesson for those that mark too harshly and too early, and for players that hard work and confidence can get you places.

One of my absolute favourites.

Has unfairly copped a fair bit of criticism in the last 24 months or so.

I'm really proud of his transformation this year, in spite of what has gone on at the club.

A true example of character being forged by adversity.

The idea floated of making him captain is the only one I'd support, if it were to be taken from Grimes and Trengove.

In fact, it'd be my preference.

I think it's a decision those 2 could respect, and not see it as having failed as captains, but rather having someone stand up as being more deserving.

Garland exemplifies leadership at the moment.

I actually believe he is captain material.

Has a really good head on his shoulders, is intelligent, leads by example and speaks very well.

Onya Judy, admire the attitude greatly. Keep up the good work, 100 games well deserved.

Fantastic Garlo,,,, well deserved, & a truly Loyal footballer. One who gives his all regardless. Old fashioned Heart, Pride & Values.

Congratulations, Colin! You've been a shining light during a dark part of our history. Have a great 100th game (celebrated with a win, of course!), and here's to a continued, fine career with the Dees!

Would be close to AA playing in another side.

He along with a select few others are holding the club together.

I'm just so impressed that he has seemingly removed the handful of brain fades he had each game. Now I feel comfortable with the ball in his hand and the leadership he has shown this year has been exceptional.

Has ticked all the boxes this year....... Gives truth to the idea that players improve with maturity, in every sense, and that we have to be patient with some of them. All class Colin Garland, and a true leader now.

I chose this username for a reason!
Well done Col! Things will turn mate. We appreciate the loyalty!

Has been a reliable defender shutting down all sorts of opponents for the last few years but this year the penny really did drop after the first few weeks that it's not just enough to do some defensive work and that he has to impact the game a lot more. Some of his efforts in intercept marking, coming third man up and also running the ball out of defense have been a joy to watch. I'm really hoping we can improve in the midfield next year so our defenders get the recognition I think they deserve.

One of my favourites. Congrats on 100, Col. One of the few that does the jumper proud.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • POSTGAME: Geelong

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
