bush demon 2,209 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 LJ interested in reviving his career with us? Club has been in constant contact with him during his travailles. Jurrah back playing footy after release from Alice Springs jail
sydneydee 703 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 That would be great news in a rubbish season
ignition. 1,478 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I bloody hope so, would love to see him running around in the Red & Blue again. I hope there is more to this than a scuttlebutt rumour.
Chook in Perth 2,109 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 We're already pond scum, can't make us worse. If he was fit enough I wouldn't say no to a rookie spot.
beelzebub 23,392 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Jurrah getting back on track Peculiar sense of deja vu.
rpfc 29,030 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I am glad he is getting it back together but jeez, he is a long way from the AFL right now. Really good to hear that we have helped him and that the boys visited him, but if he wants back in the AFL his footy needs to do some serious talking and his behaviour some seriousness.
old dee 24,084 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 And we will win the last two games by 10 goals! I will believe it when he runs out in his first game for casey.
hardtack 11,107 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I would love to see it happen... give him a contract with a zero tolerance clause in the event he steps off the straight and narrow. Would be a great story and would possibly be a real morale booster for the rest of the team considering them seem to still regard him quite highly. Nice photo of an LJ hanger in his return game in the NT.
stuie 7,374 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Whether he comes back or not, I think it's fantastic the club have stayed in touch with him and cared about his welfare.
Clark_Kent 315 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 If he wanted to come back to the Dees it would be great, but only with a highly conditional contract. But wow if he could get back to his best form it would be bloody fantastic! I was very sad when he went off the boiler.
P-man 13,367 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Couldn't happen.........could it? I would love it so much.
ThreeOneSix 954 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 It's food for thought anyway. I've been Liam's biggest critic, but If PJ deems Liam to be rehabilitated, then I see no reason why he couldn't play for us again.Leave it in the hands of PJ, he is the only bloke getting things right around this rabble.
RalphiusMaximus 6,112 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 It could be a good thing, although we do have a glut of forwards at the moment. I could see us with Jurrah on one wing and Watts on the other though. Could be interesting. I wonder if the club will keep Aaron Davey on in a coaching/player welfare role.
drdrake 3,203 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Would love to see him back, give him a rookie spot, get him over now and into training that will see how committed he is
BrisbaneDemon 1,575 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Imagine that forward line; Clark, Dawes, Hogan, Howe, Jurrah, Kent!..... If only we had a midfield to get it to them!
Bossdog 2,002 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I have in the past supported LJ but I think it would be a very long bow to draw that he will resume his AFL career (with us or anybody else)....I just don't think it will happen....But it is great that he seems to want to get his life back together......but I feel that he would have to change a lot in his life to be disciplined enough to fit in the AFL scene....Just my opinion ..... As for 316's comment about PJ.........All I have heard is talk....Seen nothing as yet.......Not knocking him, just saying.....

Conversely, if he is serious about changing his life, the structures in place in an AFL club such as the MFC might be exactly what he needs to enable that.
Straight Sets Simon 23,113 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I was feeling down about Melbourne yesterday so watched some of his highlights on YouTube, I had almost forgotten how talented he was. I would love him back, but let's not forget what he did to be put in prison. I just hope he can now turn his life around.
Geddy Lee 582 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Rather him on our list than Dan Nicholson.
Bossdog 2,002 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Conversely, if he is serious about changing his life, the structures in place in an AFL club such as the MFC might be exactly what he needs to enable that.Yeah ......maybe your right.......Hope he can....just don't think he will Can he leave his family problems behind???? It would be great if he could.....I know Krackour (spelling) is having a go and good luck to them both....
DeeSpencer 26,692 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Should play in Darwin later this year, then come back to Melbourne and play a season at Casey or other VFL side proving he can stay out of trouble and be happy in Melbourne and then he should nominate for the PSD/Rookie drafts at the end of next year. I think other clubs would most likely let us have him if we were part of the process of getting him back to footy. The question is not if he's good enough but if he will work incredibly hard. Even when he was with us he didn't work hard enough on the field.
Maldonboy38 6,436 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 There are a lot of big "ifs" about getting him back at the Dees, and a lot of factors - both personal and professional - have to align, but to have him back doing what he does best would get my three kids who are members back to the footy. I would be stoked to see him in red and blue again. But with Davey retiring, is there a mentor available who can fully come alongside? Do we ask Goodes, O'Loughlin, Michael Long to take up a personal mentoring role? Oh no, do I detect a sense of impossible anticipation for 2014? Gods of football, please don't do this to me!?!?
bing181 9,474 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Conversely, if he is serious about changing his life, the structures in place in an AFL club such as the MFC might be exactly what he needs to enable that. Agreed. But so many of the off-field people involved in Jurrah's time at the club are now gone, so suspect he might have to go to the back of the queue, no matter how popular he is amongst the players.

Leave it in the hands of PJ, he is the only bloke getting things right around this rabble. IF he manages to recover his senses & turn his back on his vices, we could possibly help one another maybe potentially via a rookie berth. but that would be a long shot for him to recover, from where he's gotten to. I think these things should all hinge on the type of coach we find ourselves...
