I wouldn't go that far just yet. I'm sure there are tonnes of other clubs interested.

Nonetheless, the fact that we're in his ear is nothing but a good thing and hopefully he's up for a new challenge in his life and views the chance to take our list and mould it into a premiership-winning team as something he wants to go after.

I thought at first reading the thread title that he was in the running for head coach (or Redlegs red head coach.)

Ling would have to be a very big advancement as a midfield coach over our current one, who could be used as a good case study for the republican movement.

I'd love Ling, Simpson, or Hayes to join the club.

If I was them I'd be very reticent to join the Melbourne Football Club. I'd understand if they erred on the side of caution.

I'd add Black to that list as a possible playing assistant coach.
