Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

How pleased do you think the freo president would be having to fly to melbourne for the day for a meeting because one of his counterparts who has had the job for 3 weeks is in denial. I think there will be a few unhappy presidents in there today

By the way if i was a supporter id be wondering why hird 2 days before a massive game against there arch rivals he is in the supreme court trying to get ad removed. His head is just all over the place.

By the way I heard that mother this morning. There is no way she was just some random who rang up. You could tell the devastation and distress in her voice. She was legit. Also before she went to air they Eddie and co knew who she was but changed her name to protect her. But Hird will probably say it was a random. But she is right. James has made it all about im and I hope he gets a copy of that call.

But you know the best thing. Venom Denham has targeted essendon to now hate. It was a classic hearing him bag hird, the president and the supporters. He is not bad to listen to when he isnt bagging your club.

Perhaps that suggests he is quite often right dees 189227.

On reflection a large part of what he was saying about the MFC turned out to be true.

Given McLachlan was front and centre of the AFL during the tanking enquiry over six months ago, I think a transition was probably in place for Vlad by year end anyway prior to this issue exploding.

Departure won't save his career if he is found to have acted in a conflicted manner, contrary to his fiduciary responsibilities.

And what are the Bombers doing RR. I can assure you, the likes of Julian Burnside QC, would not be providing legal advice to his client re Court action, if the matter had no merit.

My point about the "fight" is simply about inner belief, something we are sadly bereft of at present. I am not comparing like with like.

how can you assure me of that iva?

burnside is being paid to support a client requested strategy, he's a qc not solomon

He's also a man of the utmost integrity. I am happy to say I know the man personally.

Unlike the old Lawyer joke:

Q. What's the difference between a Lawyer and a laboratory rat?

A. There are only so many things a laboratory rat will do.

JB is man of the highest principles and ethics.

Yes dc I am confident our QC told us we had a good chance of winning the Tanking case but we choice to negotiate.

Had we gone the other way I am sure our legal team would have worked hard to win

and taken the money!

i don't quite get your point iva

are you suggesting that any qc who represents a guilty client or a lost cause is unprincipled?

you can't judge the strength of hird's case based on your opinion of his qc's ethics and principles

bottom line is the fact that burnside as his qc/legal advisor is irrelevant to the merit of his case

Same with Carro. She could present her information in a more measured and unbiased way, but she's pretty much bang on the mark on these things.

She must be fed info to be so far ahead of the game on some of this stuff

My point is Burnside would not prosecute such a case if it had no merit. HIs record in the High Court is testimony to that.

I wonder if Hird is familiar with the tale of Icarus

He too had plenty of tickets on himself and failed to heed advice.

Similar results coming I think !!

I suspect it will be symptomatic from now on with young players & their families wanting Out.

But who will take them while the chance of suspension is still hanging over their heads?

Digging a bigger hole for themselves.

IMO James Hird is defending James Hird. And if Hird is going down he will take whoever with him.

Inner belief can come from more sensible means. Lets look at Geelong, Swans and Hawthorn.

I would think Vlad will be looking for lower profile roles than AFL head in the future. Hird has far more to lose in this.

This* club is at the precipice. ( *that club- Messendon)

Cant believe how bizarrely ridiculous they are acting. Shrinks would have a ball !!

Vlad is warming up the industrial fly swatter !!

amazing..

Denial to the max. :o

Sad but true. Chucking "snow balls" at City Hall rarely works.

Where has this idea that Demetriou is 'conflicted' come from? Only Essendon, I'd guess.

Demetriou only has one responsibility, and that is to the integrity of the AFL and its 18 clubs.

If I had the sort of evidence that is contained in the charge sheet, and I had all manner of people (Hird, Watson, Little, plus a host of media commentators) running around proclaiming that Essendon had done no wrong and the AFL was 'conflicted' and out to get them, I'd release the charge sheet too just to provide the evidence that has been sorely lacking and which the public has been in the dark about.

Burnside may be moral, ethical and highly principled, but he's still a gun for hire, like every QC (including Rush). Doesn't mean he'll win.

Oh ... and the AFL Commissioners aren't dills. All are very highly qualified in business, most with directorships in large companies. One is even a retired Family Court judge who is an 'ardent' Essendon supporter.

That all you got?

What do you want? Seems many on here know the legal process better than me. I guess I should get another job. I have said plenty about the legal process above. If people don't understand that we are not simply "guns for hire" then so be it.

Could someone please summarise the situation for me (in one post) - I really can't be bothered reading the 21 pages and looking for the facts. Would be greatly appreciated!

So James Hird has been rejecting the possibility that the players were ever injected and flat out rejected the claims that he every injected himself. But now he has changed his stance and decided to go with 'I am the victim here'? So basically he has been lying through his teeth, thrown the players and everyone else under the bus and yet the supporters still drop to their knees when they see him?

And the players have been reported to be using AOD and yet they are unlikely to be charged because it was supposedly not banned when the started using it? (was it banned at any time when they were using it?)

Is there any real chance that the players will be charged after the full report is released?

Thanks

YD

disagree. If Essendon didn't fight the afl would have probably found them "not guilty" as well. The point of the charge sheet was "these are all the things we have against you, plead guilty and we'll make it go away".

I don't know what our charge sheet said or what evidence there was but for us to roll over you can bet there would have been more to it that never came out.

Connolly took the fall that Hird won't, and their club will cop it as a result.

admitting guilt when you are not guilty, or "rolling over" as you say sounds weak to me. Essendon are fighting this, Dean. We didn't even attempt to fight it,Don came out saying he would but we never did. Our club is weak from the core to the outside (Jack Viney, N. Jones etc. excluded). I am confident though that with the new head honchos this will change.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
