These articles just basically attack the AFL and the way it has dealt with what happened at Essendon.

They certainly highlight that the AFL could have handled things better.

What EVERYONE in the media seems to be missing is that it would seem that there are multiple people at Essendon who have caused this whole thing BY SYSTEMATICALLY INJECTING PLAYERS WITH ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES.

it signals an unravelling

as an ideal, or a perspective consider how guardedly the AFL have kept everything they could, 'til now.

They know full well what else is happening they just don't want it broadcasted. It will be now.

They are just as complicit ,as an accessory after the fact , as anyone who instigated wrong in the first place.

The hierachy must have known. They thought they could contain it, control the dissemination of it. They were/are fools.

Where is the FMD button when you need one? You couldn't make this stuff up, pun intended ... The AFL should change its name to "Deal or No Deal":wacko:

The newspaper beat up we had to have from the Murdoch press after having been embarrassed by Fairfax almost from day one.

The main story still has to play out and WADA won't accept cosy deals and cover ups. I suspect that the Bombers won't have the benefit of an intermediary to negotiate an outcome for them when that day happens.

Not sure why this is a surprise. I would have expected the AFL to do what was required to acheive an acceptable outcome for the competion that avoided a messy and expensive trip to the courts.

The outcome the AFL acheived ensured that Essendon and Hird have paid a heavy price for the governance balls up that allowed the finals to proceed without them. If it went to cournt the finals would have been compromised. It remains to be seen whether the penalty for the AFL offences are suffcient to mitigate any ASADA acton that may or may not eventuate.

IMO Hird is to blame for this whole mess. He has failed from day one to take responsibility for allowing the clubs supplement program the Essendon themseleves admit was out of control. He was in charge of the football dept and a buck stops with him. He should have been sacked by the club rather than defended which would have avoided all this. The threats of legal action came from Hird and co, not the AFL,

Those who critisise the AFL are essentially arguring that the AFL should have allowed this to have been played out in the courts?

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
