Melbourne has moved on from Roos

Featured Replies

I meant the size of his wallet rpfc

His wallet was probably doping too.

Footy show says we are going to have one last crack at Roos and the AFL are unhappy with Choco's last days at GWS and it could harm his chances at the coaching gig.

Any more news from the footy show?

News? Footy show??

Hahahahaha

Exactly...and Damian Barrett is a pathetic journo. Read stuff all into his rubbish.

Barrett is just a [censored].

the new melbourne . keep asking , dont take no for a answer ...... keep pushing till we get the answer we want to hear

Listening to Lyon introduce him as "the best in the business" is nauseating.

does barrett remind you of an undertaker?

You may be hearing from the undertakers union by way of a defamation action for that one dc.

If I was an undertaker I would be extremely offended.

One thing he has over Neeld is some form of success as an AFL coach, or even just a previous AFL coaching career, to back up the stern words. When you're telling a room full of players about your hard arsed approach to footy and advising them that no-one's spot in the side is safe, it doesn't have much resonance when everyone in the room is thinking, "who is this guy again?"

And Laidley never had the Schwab millstone around his neck to make him a complete Fu-up.

Heard Barrett speak but it was drivel as usual. Most jobs you give notice then stay 2/4/6 weeks. We all know footy is different, when a coach is sacked he packs his desk straight away. Choco was grubbed by Sheedy, he stayed until the end of the last game the left. What were his options?

so even though Choco may want the MFC job and have the passion to lead us forward, that fool Vlad doesnt like the way Choco left the monstrosity that is GWS and so now he doesnt want him to have the gig at Melbourne?

Vlad really needs to watch himself, he is out of line lately.

choco to me is clearly the best option behimd Roos, surely the AFL will realise that

i dont think Vlad ought to comment .

He might have other planes to catch

Personally think Eade is a better choice, still not sure about Williams but I concede others see it the other way around.

Williams has had 2 pretty messy departures from clubs not leaving on good terms, it might be a little bit of all about Mark.

This is hilarious!

Demetriou has said nothing.

It's just Barrett playing pin the tail on the donkey.

If we throw even more at roos and he does take it, what does that say about roos. I get the feeling it's mostly about money when he keeps saying 'not for now'.

If he took it he is a hypocrite.

I don't think it will involve throwing more money at Roos.

It'll be putting the other pieces in place. The right pieces.

And I think it's perfectly understandable that he wouldn't want to say "yes" at this stage, and endure a media circus months before taking control. It'd be bad enough once you start work.

It seems Melbourne has not moved on from Roos

personally i think its all been a stunt to shift the spotlight,

its always been all about Roos for us, no more settling for second best

No. Jackson would look like a complete 'doos' if he gave the other prospective coaches the run-around knowing full well that we had Roos in the bag.

One last play now before the end of the season will give the club enough time to plan the interviewing and recruitment process for the other candidates.

Why would we move on from anyone when decision time is not until seasons end.

Its a game.

I think it's more of a case that Roos has never been discounted by the club even though there was an advantage to letting the media run with that line. PJ and the coaching panel will still review everyone.

I have a small bet on Roos as our next coach and I still have a gut feeling that this will result in a pay.

There seems to be a lot of smokes and mirrors atm.

Hope we don't burn Chocco, Eade and Craig just to satisfy the media, will be disappointed if that's the case.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
