WORST UMPIRING. EVER!

Featured Replies

I think the last few weeks the umpiring has been good, today however has been appalling! These three flogs all should be sent to the scummiest league in the country.

Couldn't agree more. Won't pay a free against Tippett, or acknowledge a good tackle. Amongst the rest just appalling

gotta agree , we get the crap end all the time , sick of it ,grrrrrrrrr

Unbelievable

Terrible. Truly terrible. For both sides, but moreso for us.

Can't the AFL get this right? Seriously? We are pumping millions of dollars into GWS when they dont want a team. Isn't it time we started to employee these umpires full time? While they are not officiating games they can be training to become better umpires.

It made the game very hard to watch. No doubt for Swans fans too.

FARK the umpires

Absolutely USELESS, PATHETIC and INEPT

What a disgrace

OPSM my butt

Edited by DemonOX

They seem to get many of the difficult to see ones right, but completely fail on the blatantly obvious ones or those that are in no way there.

Sponsored by OPSM! Oh the irony.

Second worst. Don't think anything will ever beat that R22 match against Port at Adelaide Oval (2011?) where the umpires literally officiated to the crowd.

Oh that one.

We were always going to lose that one. The umpires had decided before the game.

First game at Adelaide oval if memory serves. Chad Cornes last game for Port. One of the field umpires even gave him a hug.

I can still rember Jermey Howe taking a decent mark only for it to not be paid. It wasnt a 50/50 decision, it was a basic mark.

worst display I have seen........ever

Absolutely disgusting. Worst part is they'll get away with it with absolutely no accountability.

The rushed behind was IMO an incorrect ruling.

By my understanding of the rules, he didn't tap it on his foot, but handballed. Where he handballed it to is completely irrelevant. The second he handballs rather than touch the foot, means it should be a bounce.

Whoever claimed it was a correct decision in the game day thread, please let us know where I am wrong here??

Ed. ucanchoose it was, so do tell, how was it a correct decision??

Absolutely appalling.

If this happened to Collingwood or Carlton, the AFL would be hearing all about it.

Sadly we aren't in a position to say anything, which makes it that much worse.

The biggest joke is they tried to even it out with that soft free to Fitzy when the game was over. Too little too late.

It would be an interesting experience umpiring a game in front of 45,000 rabid West Coast supporters. A bit like facing a delivery from Thomo or taking the wheel of a F1 car. You wonder how you would go

It is a thankless task umpiring an AFL match and the abuse would only get worse in the lower leagues. Somehow they need to increase the the pool of umpires. The quality drops off quickly after the first few top guys.I have always thought the AFL should encourage retiring footballers into the role. They, at least understand the game

Having said that the standard of umpiring was particularly poor today

It's hard enough losing but that garbage those guys in blue displayed today was atrocious , good crowd of 26,000 though, can't wait to start winning again, everyone Demon that went today should be proud of themselves.

Definitely the worst one I can recall against us. And I don't accept they were just "errors". A Swans player would have ample opportunity, get tackled, drop the ball, play on called. Happened numerous times.

A few Demonlanders claimed the umpiring against the Saints was woefully against us. I disagree with that. Against the Saints, it was fair. Today's umpiring however...they never looked like rewarding the majority of our tackles. Some of the worse umpiring I can remember.

What about WCE 23 frees to us 1 at half time in WA???

The great tackle by Fitzy,

The incorrect disposal by Tippett x 2

The inept decision of the hand ball over the goal line.

All cost us goals. It was an absolute disgrace.

There were probably a few more, but I'm getting sick in the stomach thinking about it.

Terrible today, however we all know Melbourne games get the umpires on their l plates

Yeah, they are pathetic, I thought this only happened over the West.

What about taking the ball from Dawes after awarding a free kick to Watts who plainly ran and jumped at the ball whilst Grundy went soft and was barely affected by Watts who in any case was attacking the ball. Crazy.

It wasn't just how bad the decisions were but where the decisions were. Often in forward 50 and leading to shots on goal.

In fact we got 2 pretty soft ones to Fitzy that he converted but they don't cancel out the Sydney ones.

There were at least 10 games in the 90s which were worse and there was 21-1 against West Coast, but today pretty bad.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
