Colin Sylvia of the Demons in action.

Melbourne unrestricted free agent Colin Sylvia has nominated Fremantle as his preferred club.

Taken at pick No. 3 in the 2003 National Draft, the 27-year-old has kicked 129 goals in 157 games since making his debut for the Demons in 2004.

Under AFL rules, an unrestricted free agent can consider offers from all clubs during the Free Agency Period.

Fremantle is due to lodge the relevant documentation with the AFL tomorrow when the Free Agency Period commenc

Unless Col improves his consistency I could see him playing games in the WAFL next year, as there's a lot of midfielders at Freo who are better players than he is.

The best thing that can happen to MelbourneFC is that James Aish plays best on ground in the SANFL GF this weekend, there by upping his value. Aish was the youngest EVER player to debut in the SANFL at just 16, won the Premiership last year with Norwood and is headed for back to back this year. I am not concerned by his light frame. He has played fantastic football at a senior level for 2 seasons. If he can dominate at the senior level skinny, imagine how he will go when he puts on some mussel. Just so we are all clear, he is talked as the best player to come out of SA in a generation, a one in 1000 player, and is well in front of Gibbs at the same age.

I would be disappointing to let Aish go, it will have to be one hell of a good deal for us. Swallow maybe? Whatever the case we will be trading out a potential superstar and this must come with serious currency. If this does not come forth we should stick with Aish.

Looking forward to watching him on the weekend!

I like all of this FA agreement deals, and some non FA deals such as Mummy, when the AFL rules stipulate that no deals are to be done until tomorrow at the earliest. It's like anything goes, do whatever you like and then post date the agreements.

They do it in the NBA though. Players can commit verbally during the off season but can't officially sign until a certain date. Nothing wrong with that.

Couldn't be less concerned at losing Sylvia. Good luck to him though.

I wish Col the best of luck and hope he gets to play some finals footy... I was certain he would stay a Dee, but the lure of fame and fortune was obviously more than he could resist.

I am sick of recruiting Potential Stars. I just want proven stars.

Whatever happens with pick 2 it would seem that we are in a 'catch 22' situation.

It is widely stated that Aish is the second best player in the draft. Aish is a midfielder.

We are said to be prepared to give up Aish, a 'potential' AFL midfielder, for a 'proven' midfielder.

Would any club be prepared to do this? I doubt that we would. It would be different if Aish was a key forward, where a club needing a big forward might trade a very good midfielder for one.

I think we will end up selecting Aish with our first pick and I won't be too disappointed if we do this. Hopefully our new developmental coaches will have more success than their predecessors.

With free agents going everywhere at the moment the thought of us getting screwed over keeps occurring to me. But then I imagine Peter Jackson at his desk (cheap desk) preparing some all mighty deals.

Just mentioned Swallow and Melbourne on trade radio (no real link though)

Still if he wants to move to Melbourne I would put pick 2 on the table

A poster here said (multiple times) he failed their medical - apparently not?

thats probably cartons disinformation.

I also saw that in the Herald Sun. But its believed that Carlton did up to three medicals and are happy enough to offer him $700,000 a year.

Even better, if he put on some octopus or squid imagine those eight-arm pack marks.

Trade Radio just said Shuey is overseas and is happy in Perth. Management no collection of offer from Dees.

Rumours of Swallow to Melbourne have been mentioned but they didn't think it would eventuate like the Rockliff rumour aswell.

Also just mentioned Viv Michie has been linked to us.

Shuey ain't going anywhere, never was.

Gaff supported the Dees, not Shuey. Thus making Shuey the smarter one.

Just gonna leave this here

Shuey ain't going anywhere, never was.

yeah I know. But apparently some [censored] said last night we were in the box seat to nab him Lol

What's that meant to prove?

Find me some draftees that aren't built like an 18 year old...

Such an idiotic attitude towards what are essentially kids.

Both were Dees fans.
