Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Existing Swans style? The same one that Roos created and Longmire built upon?

Tappy will flourish under Roos. Just the king of long kicking, hard nut style player he likes. No need to give him away. Plus Lamb has all but re-signed with the Swans.

yes. its is there alive and well. ours is still being built. tappy imo needs a change of scenery. And I think Lamb could do well on our list.

Oh I don't mind getting Lamb for free either.

I was looking to shop, but with what to trade? If you think Roos can get tappy up & about, then I'm all for it. but I want to get more talent in, to empty our blank list holders.

Although there were rumours that Tappie was up for trade.

I thought we announced that Tapscott and Blease were up for trade?

Haven't seen that mentioned anywhere.

May have been on the AFL website but it was definitely mentioned. See the thread about it.

Gilbert Gardiner, going by his name I wouldn't trust him.

I think Vince is a much better footballer than Silvia and I've never believed he (Silvia) to be a huge talent. It was the things he lacked that held him back not laziness. Silvia will play a role at Freo but will not be a star.

Even his best friends said he was lazy. I will go with that. He showed enough in some games to back up his talent but talent alone does not get you places. Same reason I missed out on X-factor!

He was one of many we drafted from 2002-2006 that didn't get the best out of themselves, Sylvia, Dunn, Bate. And has left a big hole in our list...

Was sad to see Bate go. What has happened to him? Loved the chant as he ran toward goal Master Bater!

Didn't have the talent that many think but he's not at the MFC anymore so he's not our problem. My last Col post...well for this year anyway.

Does anyone here think we can maintain Frawley? And should we seek a trade next week before we potentially lose him for nothing? A team like GWS, Hawthorn, North Melbourne, Carlton are screaming out for a FB. Frawley + Pick 53 for a teams first and 2nd round pick?

Stop harping on about this. Yes we can maintain Frawley and he will be resigning.

And to add, as he is a restricted free agent, we can match the offer he gets (if he is unsigned, but he won't be) and force him to stay. We'd match any offer and he won't want to risk going to the draft. But we won't have to worry about that because he will re-sign.

I think a professional organisation should back itself to keep it's best player despite free agency, and i am extremely confident Chip would be loving what he has seen under Roos and a few wins next year will be enough to keep him on.

having said that i think he deserves a very good contract this time around, has battled very hard in a very difficult period for the club and needs his next contract to reflect how important he is to the team.

If we loose Frawley, then we have backline issues.....happy that Grimes should be down back next year McDonald, Grimes, Garland & Frawley.

Yep agreed losing Frawley is a MASSIVE step back. Critical we keep him however I dont want to be discussing this time next year the fact we lost him for nothing (or not what he is worth).

Still think we need another Key defender.

Looking at key defenders around the 40 mark .

Could be a choice of McStay , Giles or Fort.

Anyone know who would be a good pick up.

McStay -

Club: Eastern Ranges/East Ringwood

D.O.B.: 24.6.95

Height: 194cm

Weight: 88kg

Another player who has impressed me this year, Dan McStay has had a superb season, another player who really flourished in Tom Boyd’s absence at Eastern. For McStay, he has established himself as the ultimate swingman, possessing the ability to be switched forward at any time. More often than not in 2013, McStay started forward, and was often thrown back if things were getting out of hand, but it’s in defence – his natural position – where he shines the brightest. What I love about McStay, is that he isn’t afraid to take contested grabs, crash packs or get physical with opposition forwards. Very athletic, composed and calm under pressure – McStay relishes the opportunity to shut down the gorilla key forwards, and doesn’t mind making them play accountable football by penetrating the defensive 50 and making himself an option. Brilliant left foot, ultra clean hands – another package player who gives you a bit of everything.

Giles

Club: Woodville West Torrens/Blyth Snowtown

D.O.B.: 5.5.95

Height: 195cm

Weight: 93kg

Like a small Jack Russell thinking he is a pit bull, Cameron Giles – a 195cm ruck/defender believes he is a midfielder. Giles is an absolute ripper of a prospect, and in terms of development could be absolutely anything in the coming years. Giles can do it all; ruck, play in defence or even swing forward – and if he’s feeling a little bit fancy, he’s also an attacking winger! It is however, in defence when Giles plays his best game – taking big scalps in the National Championships on Max King, Dallas Willsmore and Michael Apeness, in a brilliant display of shutdown football. The Crows would love an athletic big man to add to their ranks, and they get that in Cameron Giles.

Fort

Club: Geelong Falcons/South Barwon

D.O.B.: 4.10.95

Height: 196cm

Weight: 84kg

A key defender who constantly wears down his opponent, Fraser Fort had a fantastic season and could go higher than where I’ve placed him. However, with Ayden Kennedy and Luke Delaney most likely leaving the club, Fort could be groomed to take over from Michael Firrito, and will be a future A-Pillar in defence for the Roos in the years to come. Terrific one-on-one, elite overhead and also has shown versatility to play up forward which makes him a hot prospect come draft day.

I like the sounds of McStay & the versatility of Giles, however admittedly I have never seen any play.

Thanks Richy.

All three seem OK by the write ups . Would hope we will pick one of them up, I really think we are in need of back up in the tall defender area.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
