Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We are apparently interested in Viv Michie from Fremantle. I think that we could turn him into a player add put him into our midfield straight away. Unfortunately we are going to have to develop young players like Viney and Toumpas. We are not going to get stars very easily during the Trade Period but we might get players like Swallow, Gaff, Shuey, Wines etc. and maybe we can turn them into stars. Unfortunately players like Daisy Thomas and Lance Franklin will not be interested in us for many years to come.

Rumors that Freo's Viv Michie could be coming to the MFC next year.

Wont set the world on fire, but he looks like a nice player, will add some depth to our mid stocks and shouldn't cost us much at all.

Found some of his highlights playing in the WAFL: http://www.fremantlefc.com.au/video/2013-03-27/wafl-watch-viv-michie

Depth in the midfield u say.

Maybe let's start with an actual midfield first then we can add depth.

What's that meant to prove?

Find me some draftees that aren't built like an 18 year old...

Such an idiotic attitude towards what are essentially kids.

I can keep going if you'd like?

Aish weighs about 70kg, and already has dodgy shoulders

Ridiculous comment.

Similar generation and all

Look at Flowers legs and hips, hardly a similar build to Morton in that respect.

Similar generation and all

If you'd seen him play you'd know that generations are irrelevant. What I love about our indigenous game is that unlike most sports, different positions allow for different body types and as much as scaremongerers talk about prototype footballers, I still see those under 180cm star on a regular basis and the GF showed that skinny natural footballers are still just as valuable as they were when Robbie graced the MCG wing.

My point is that our recent record with these types of players is not exactly something to write home about.

Just gonna leave this here

One of these guys is quick, has outstanding skills, beautiful kick of the ball on both sides, is a good decision maker, can play inside and outside and comes from a great football pedigree.

The other 2 have non of this.

I have a bad feeling that we are not going to be able to attract any player of significance this trade period.

Hope I am wrong as it has happened before and I know we have pick 2 up for grabs but it is a worry.

Our entire football department (with Rawlings and Mahoney as the exceptions) has changed. Player development over the past 10 years is now irrelevant. If we were to use our historical failure to develop players as a core organizing principle for the future then we might as well hand in our registration now.

The worst that can happen is that we pick up the 2nd best rated kid in the country.

Then we'll get the second best player in the draft. What's the problem?

The Mahoney interview yesterday gave me real belief that we're already in line for one or two talent young mids. If we can nab one of Swallow/Shiel etc with pick 2 and also pick up a Savage or a Mitchie or a Greenwood to go with Cross then I'll be very happy. One potential elite mid and another solid B grader with a stronger body and an experienced, noted training machine who can't help but find the pill for a couple of years. I'd be surprised if we didn't end up with three midfielders from other clubs before the end of the trade period.

It's all well and good to 'develop' players, but we need at least some sort of immediate success, i.e. not getting beaten by 100 points every second week.

I think most Melbourne supporters would agree with this... also, player attraction and retention will decline even further if we are still winning 5-8 games in 3-4 years time. This is why we need to trade picks; we need established talent

I certainly agree that we need an injection of hard bodied, hard running midfielders, I'm just a little uneasy at the mindset that much of Demonland has that we should shy away from best available on draft day if they don't look like Luke Tapscott. I understand why Demonlanders have drafting scars but we've got to look forward. I'm comfortable with Toumpas over Wines and I'll be comfortable if we pick up Aish. I guess it comes down to the step after we become competitive. Do we want to settle for being respected and regularly finishing in the bottom rungs of the eight or do we want to win a flag? I've always been a journey man but I'm needing a flag more and more the older I get!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
