The Trade/Draft Rumour Mill

Another rumour just across my desk is that on Roos trip to Perth recently Dale Garlett was spoken to! Thoughts?

His current coach has lauded his attitude this year. A yes from me if Roos decides he can keep on track. As i said in a thread about Martin there is no way they would risk taking him (and haven't obviously) but might well take a punt on young fella like Garlett, especially with Flash still at the club in some sort of mentoring/welfare capacity.

Would still rather any of Zak Jones, Luke Dunstan, Trent Dumont or Patrick Cripps with our 2nd round pick.

Do we think there's a chance he'll still be there by our 3rd Round pick which at this stage I think is Pick 36?

Really like what Jackson had to say in the Jack watts article...

Jackson indicated they are likely to go after midfielders from strong clubs who are seeking opportunities.
"The players who perhaps can't get a game with some very good midfields around the place," Jackson said.

Mitch Hallahan and Shane Savage from the Hawks.

Viv Michie from freo.

Jordan Shroder and George Horlin Smith from Geelong

Anyone think of any?

I think we should be freeing up a place for them on their current list by removing the obstacle from their path.

Whoever we pick a number will be solidly built 6 footers who run hard and crash in.

What like Hawthorn and Geelong? Don't be silly, we don't do that sort of stuff.

Saw this on Norths Bigfooty's page. Was a big page but was mostly about Noth. I only put down the key points that I thought would be interesting.

heard from a reliable source a number of things today:

-Greenwood has spoken to Melbourne and Adelaide about potential trade

- We have spoken to Matt Buntine and Dom Tyson from GWS. Stayed in constant contact since their draft years.

-Gysberts gone too. Club not happy with his attitude towards training. Happy to put in the hards yards on the track, not happy to put in the hard years in the gym.

Im not surprised that we have talked to him. Is a ball winner and tough nut.

I hope we also have spoken to Buntine and Dom Tyson. Both good young players that have had injuries setbacks.

And Gysbert doesn't surprise me at all. I still laugh at some on here who wants him back because what he did at Melbourne is exactly what he did at North and its obvious doesn't want to put in the hard yards!

I'd be rapt if we netted Garlett. He'd be that small forward that Byrne can't be - a potential match winner.

I think Roos wants players who can run & spread with a hint of pace.

so I reckon Adams sounds like he'd fit that bill, & Nathan Freeman, Dominic Sheed, all sound like good run & spread with strong characters.

I suspect these guys will be on our radar. as well as the Docherty's, etc. players with a couple of Pre seasons into their bodies already.

I'm open to trade anyone to get who we need as quickly as possible, as I'm sure the commission would be as well.

I'm interested in which of our players Demonlanders wouldn't trade, to get the ones we need?

Garlett could be a superstar. He'll also do damage through the midfield on rotations.

Would love to use pick 19 on him, but suspect he'll be gone.

Yes....but.

Wasn't this the bloke who was overlooked last year? Poor attitude? Winnie Blue and VB in hand?

If we're talking about culture, not sure this bloke fits the bill.

I like this. I wonder how those talks are progressing.

No I didn't say Melbourne spoked to them I was quoting this of a North Melbourne board and that's why I said I hope we have been talking to them aswell.

Ah. I should read more closely. Gotcha.

As I said on the Dayle Garlett thread I'm not sure if I would take him at 19, he has been really good this year and I compared his improvement from last season to this with attitude, improved body shape/fitness and effort to the improvements Lewis Jetta made from 2011 to 2012. Jetta has GARLETT marked for pace but Garlett's foot skills and disposal are exquisite.

I will back Roos and the FD who know far more than I do if they have faith in their ability to improve his fitness enough for him to regulalrly rotate through the middle. Then take him at 19

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
