There are player profiles on the MFC website. Her name is Chelsea Randall and it describes her as "a brutal competitor". Western Australian though, so go home factor may be a risk ;)

Love the game plan! See ball get ball. Kick long. Beat your opponent. Punch when behind. Spread hard.

I think Peter Giles is playing on the wing

Chelsea Randall is tearing it apart.

Our girl Jasmine Garner has been very lively and just kicked her first goal!

Go Dees! Dees by 31 at the moment.

Melbourne number 3

Gun

She was unbelievable. I was super impressed by the skill level. Great to watch.

Now if only the other female Melbourne team could win...

We have another female team? Awesome!

Oh, wait, you were being an useless misogynist. Good for you little man, whatever makes you feel good.

Anyway, numbnuts aside, what a great day for football; a good small step on a long road. :)

Misogynist? Putting aside the fact that I'm a female and was clearly joking, how was what I said misogynistic?

Well, the text as presented pretty unambiguously used 'female' as a reference to weakness / lack of ability. Which is practically the definition of misogynist language.

Neither your gender nor attempt at humour change that at all.

But maybe you were being sublimely ironic, referencing other people's use of 'female' as a term denoting unfitness for football, and turning it on it's head by noting that here was a competitive, winning team and gee don't we all wish our team played like a 'bunch of girls' more often.

In which case, sorry for misunderstanding.

Did you know there have even been studies about how at a certain point it becomes impossible to tell the difference between sincere extremism and a parody of that extremism? On the internet the cross-over point is very low because of the frequent lack of cues like 'scare quotes' and the tragic absence of a sarcasm font (though the use of reverse italics is being promoted slowly).

Also -

Women can play football!

Women footballers could probably play football a lot better if they were not systematically excluded from participation in all the main development pathways from the age of 12.

Chelsea Randall's daughter might have a fair shot if progress keeps being made and the idea that Women Can Play Football becomes a normal one.

Anyone know how Daisy Pearce went?

Won best on. Some really good performances across the board. Loved the work of 3, 5, 17, 18 and 31!

Going off on a tangent here, a guy I know who was doing his maths masters told me that the world is divided into 2 types of people; those that divide the world into 2 types of people and those that don't.

I know two further versions of that joke:

1. The world is divided into 3 types of people; those who can count, and those who can't.

2. The world is divided into 10 types of people; those that understand binary, and those who don't.

Totally agree on Randall. Her contested marking was awesome. The only problem is she needs better range on her set shots. Still, I would have had her BOG ahead of Daisy. Great start to the night to have them get up so convincingly. Also great to get the trifecta for Melbourne with wins to Casey and the mens side.

Does this win mean that the MFC ladies have won the Grand Final?

LOL

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
