New Emblem?

I like the current Emblem for formal occasions & letterhead etc, as the trademark.

But wouldn't mind have a fun logo for casual things, like newspaper headlines, AFL website insignia, & other casual functions.

maybe we could improve this one to look fierce & more knarly.

So the 1970s demon was cross-eyed?

I like the current emblem, has our colours, our traditional MFC logo and the Southern Cross of our flag, the rules of the game

Cartoon logos are very unprofessional IMO

Oh good, let's break even this season, but look at putting more money into the Footy Dept next season or let's get a new emblem again after four years and have to spend money on changing everything again, jumpers, signage, letterheads, merchandising...sigh and sigh...any way agree must we go back to cartoonish emblems..why?....and besides which if it is going to have a name on surely the name should be Dees, don't hear many people calling MFC the Demons these days....

Every comment I have heard on our current emblem is that it's too busy, but I don't mind it as a business logo, probably looks alright on a letter head and so on, maybe doesn't reflect the " demons" side of the club well enough

I support Everton in the Premier League, a team that has been around as nearly as long as MFC, their nickname is "the Toffees", there is no reference to the toffee on their emblem

Hahah i'm not sure you'd want to brag about being " the Toffees", but I take your point.

Monikers don't work the same way in the Prem as they do in the AFL. They are merely colloquial nicknames: "Toffees", "Potters", "Gunners". In the AFL they are an integral part of the club's identity and brand. You don't have a Toffees mascot running around pre-game at Goodison.

I don't think the logo necessarily has to have "Demons" on it, but 13 of the current AFL logos have done it that way, so it's hardly out of the oridnary. Having the "Dees" is a horrible idea though. Would be the same as having "Pies" on the Collingwood logo.

The current emblem is ok just remove the southern cross, the flame above the M and the gradient writing in the background. If they do go a new one though I hope it does have a fierce looking Demon on it. No reason we can't have two though, pretty sure Geelong do and it works ok for them.

Nothing wrong with the current logo / emblem.

Let us only consider a change after our next flag - and then reject the change as it would be an emblem of our success :-)

Yeah I quite like the current one, it's just a little too busy.

I'd only have one of the trident, football and southern cross (whichever element is the most important - probably the trident as it's part of our identity, although it should be a smaller trident), and I don't think the flame above the M works well given the usual size of the logo.

Wrong, they have "the Toffee Lady" walking around throwing "Everton Mints" to the crowd, er and yes they do, have a look at some of the merchandising available, Red Devils especially

I love the current emblem and all that it stands for, but I also think there's a strong case for a logo that will be attractive to the kids who will form our future membership base. An angry, fire eating Demon would surely have more appeal to the youngsters. Like others have said, there is a place for both an official emblem as well as what I would call a logo, to be used on badges and in newspapers etc..

maybe its an insight into how the club was run back around that time after smithy went ? thru the late 60's - 70's period. there is No fierceness or potency in it At All.

Just a friendly polite little fella. a friend to all. nice as all get out.

Just like our team has been for the Most part of our past 50Yrs. coincidence, or an inner reflection of the attitude that formed us over those 50 years.

lol..the toffee lady eh? I've not seen or heard of this toffee lady but I'm sure she's a ripper.

I'll grant you United, the biggest club in the world, using the Red Devils with some of their branding, but there are numerous clubs that would have no such example. Indeed I can only find two EPL logos with the nickname of the team in it - Stoke and Hull. The AFL is quite different in the centrality and relevance of its monikers.

I reckon the emblem could work in unison with a team logo. The current emblem can remain for all corporate or business matters, while a new more Demon-centric logo can be used for the team itself on merchandise and guernseys.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
