POSTMATCH DISCUSSION - Round 11

Demonland

Can't believe people are actually saying Pederson was good... That's what I hate about stats, it says he had 23 disposals etc.. He was terrible, has to be one of the most inept one on one defenders i've ever seen. Gets slaughtered in marking contests, makes bad decisions, and doesn't run hard... at all

Wish we had a few more players inept enough to get 23 disposals at 87% DE and take 8 marks.

WJ is right that if we cut most of the errors it will become 8 goal losses instead of 15.

And thats as good as thing will ever get under Neeld if he gets better.

Eight goal losses.

Its so depressing.

One positive from today is that at some stage those umpires will be dead and insects shall be crawling through their corporate brain cavities.

I despise them ,the game ,Westpac ,Hungry Jacks and all the sheep that follow it .

Thank you AFL for turning the game into wankfest for the suburban scum that now patronise it .

The one thing I think he has going for him is his reading of the play - his intercept marks show that he does that well. Contest in the air isn't too bad as he can punch and takes a couple of contested marks but he cannot kick to save himself, and can't do much else.

that is what Neeld means when he says flare - but we are still lazy - have been ever since Bailey took over - however there were patches where we hunted the ball - we just need a lot more off it.

We don't lead and we don't move at the stoppages, continually handball to blokes who don't move because no one moves.

My Record is in shreds.

Absolute rubbish. Watch the game again. "Doesn't run hard at all" is the worst quote of the day. There were some shocking errors and poor footballers, but Pedersen wasn't in either of these groups.

McBurney in particular makes me want to do physical damage. Not just today but a couple of our other games and games involving other sides.. he has been atrocious. An absolute [censored].

Is that the bald ,homosexual looking man or the other one?

The effort was there in the first half but only in patches in the second. Despite that and the margin there were positives, but ultimately were got slaughtered on the rebound. Particularly in the second quarter the amount of times we'd enter our forward half/50 with a promising move only to have it end up at pies end 30sec later was killing us.

But I liked the games of Nate and Matt Jones, Garland, Rodan, and Pederson. Watts, Fitzy, Flash, Toumpas, Blease, and Jamar all had good parts in the game. Strange but there were enough positives for me to not want to tear my membership up.

Toumpas looked more at home today - I think he will be a great player for us. I felt for Colin Garland. I thought he had it over Cloke.

Positives for me

1 Garlo getting up his team mates for not running hard enough to fill the gap to help stop cloke on a few occasions

2 Sylvia giving Fitzy a spray for a shite hand pass which led to pies goal

3 Watts giving it to the umps for their shite decisions

Neeld needs to go, the FD needs to be changed and the board needs a change NOW

They had a crack in the first quarter, which is pretty much all you hope for these days, but as the game wore on their work rate dropped. Unless you're at the ground it's hard to notice, but Collingwood players continually worked harder and out-numbered Melbourne players at the contest.

Lynden Dunn is a disgrace. And a serial piker. You'd never wear the jumper again if I was coach.

Pedersen is also a complete piker.

Watts - keep your feet in contests.

As funny as it sounds, the difference between the two sides wasn't that great. Melbourne lack composure, make skill errors, and some poor decisions that cruel you. But it can change with a couple of guns in the middle, more experience, and a bit of belief.

Incidentally, am I the only one who loved the 50m penalty Garland gave away? Just hurled Cloke face-first to the ground to emphasize his point to the rest of our defence. Beautiful.

It was a good battle and to me it showed how much pride he has in his own performance

I liked it too-I wouldn't mind a full blown fist to the opponents face at the moment. Such is my frustration .

Fark discipline. When the umpires turn a thrashing into a train wreck I'd like to see them smashed too .

I did Lordweaver but I felt that when the game was on he made bad decisions.

Precisely, RtG.

Blease made numerous dud decisions and killed us going forward.

I'd just declared him Casey-bound when he made that run.

Net effect? minus 18 points.

No - I also enjoyed that.

Melb should go to the AFL and request that we get points for any quarters that we win.

Win a quarter we get one point.

Seems only fair considering we play one quarter per game, might even make the finals!!!!

All that Neeld can do is to get more effort from the players for longer periods - is not going to happen overnight but it is happening each week - we have probably just played two of the better teams in relation to effort in the last two weeks. Perhaps or hopefully the players may have learnt something.

They were bigger, stronger and more experienced but we had a crack. Unfortunately, what worked in the first quarter failed after that. The loss of Dawes affected our forward structure and we simply lapsed into a frenzy of self-inflicted errors of which Collingwood took maximum advantage.

Once we eliminate the errors, these games will be 6 to 8 goal losses. Get a few of those injured blokes back and we won't be far away from winning games against our fellow cellar dwellers.

That's something to look forward to Jack, the day when we can compete with the worst sides in the competition, boy I hope I'm around for that.

And I'm looking forward to some of those 6 to 8 goal losses, that will be almost like a win.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
