yes talk is cheap...but putting yourslef into the mire isnt. PJ is to be commended, as is anyone who takes upon the challenge that is the MFC.

Theres more conjecture than anythign currently...so going back to words, or conversely action, I await expectantly for what transpires. What "happens" is far more real that what is said.

The real interest of this club is mainly off field. .

The issue of leadership, culture and recruitment preceded Bailey. If you look at our appalling recruitment from 2000 onwards you will see the seeds of today's problem were sown there. The problematic recruitment choices of Prendergast added to the problem. Our lack of proper development facilities and personnel over that period did not help either.

The best post i have ever read from you RR. Spot on. One thing i would add is that Bailey could only dream about the resources and facilities (and perhaps board support) that the current coach enjoys and that history will be a lot kinder to him than Neeld.

I'm not so well informed but I don't think this means curtains for Tim Harrington because PJ said he was happy with our 2012 recruiting.

I don't think our last two recruiting gurus will be invited back any time soon.

As to the coaching and football department, I would imagine that over the next six months we're going to see some new faces and perhaps some new positions created and others made redundant.

And you can back it in that there will be changes at board level but nothing radical like a former state premier.

Im confused - Did PJ administer a club that won a flag? its very easy to come in and say this or that isn't right with fresh eyes. But sometimes its not what is being said but who is saying it. Runs on the board.

My personal feeling and the indications I have heard are that club was way worse before Neeld's arrived but that things haven't been perfect since then either.

Jackson came into Essendon at a time it was strrugling ( believe it or not ) and gt it back on its feet. Part of the problem the Bombers had at that time ( despite appearances ) was it seemed unable to make some unplatable decisions and was becoming efectively hamstrung. Jackson effectively put into action remedies to fix this.

Yes but scouts are just that. It's the heads of recruiting, overseen by the head of FD and in consultation (one would presume) with the coach and board, that determine what the scouts are looking for.

It's not the scouts who decided on Lucas Cook.

LS, the relentless hounding of the club thru media, may be they're way of trying to kick an easy target, but it is helpful in one sense, as many of us have been pushing for a forensic change at the club now for a few years...

.... many of us pushing for change, didn't realise just how bad the culture had become, knowing it was crook, but just not how bad... Neeld is taking on the challenge.

so the media scrutiny is actual helping us keep the magnifying glass on proceedings & this is making sure that no short cuts will be taken in getting It right this time... the AFL are throwing their big guns at it Now.

... whilst I have No faith in anyone who cohabits the MCC, as our directors, I do have faith in the Footy Nouse of the people the AFL know. they have access & the persuasion, to get the right people into position to help us, where most wouldn't touch us with a barge pole.

this public pressure may be just what the Dr ordered...

& guess what, I think If I remember correctly, Sheedy had words with one or 2 administrators at Essendon, & the end result was a couple where moved on.. Corcoran I think was one, & he ended up with us, ultimately with CCameron & Fagan & Daniher as a major part of our footy dept...

After Sheedy was satisfied with the changes, he continued with some fine results, inc the 2000 Premiership.
