Just to add to it, I'm not sure how many picks gws might want to use in the draft. If they only use the minimum of 3 picks and we trade pick 2 to them we might be able to get a second round back as well. Gws will have 1, 2 and 9, plus they still have Adams to off load. They may have no need for a second round pick and might not care to hand it over.. A third round might be the go at least. Gws took plowman at 3 last year and scharenberg would appeal to them over another mid imo. They need some more depth in the taller backs. I've seen scharenberg many times and he could easily in the future play the quarterback role. He can play taller and on smalls.

3 way trade:

Melbourne trade out pick 2 and Tom McDonald

Adelaide trade out Bernie Vince and Andrew Otten

GWS trade out Dylan Shiel and Anthony Miles

Melbourne receive Shiel, Vince and Miles

Adelaide receive pick 2 to use on local lads Aish or Scharenberg

GWS receive McDonald and Otten to immediately add experience and size to their backline

There could also be some shuffling of later picks to even out perceived inbalances.

I know the immediate stumbling block for most Demonlanders would be the loss of Tom McDonald.

I think we're paying overs and Adelaide might be unders but that's where the later pick exchange might come in to play. We've got to remember that we're the ones driving this trade. Adelaide also motivated. GWS least motivated. Current climate suggests we might have to get a little radical. I understand losing McDonald would hurt and wouldn't expect our club would go down this path. Shiel, Vince and Miles all in our transaction might just get us thinking about it however.

McDonald has just turned 21. He has some very good qualities and will continue to improve. There is only one thing you will hear 'good' when describing our team from the press, opposition clubs and our own coach to be honest. We have good talls at both ends and that will be even better with Hogan.

Concentrate on the mids. Pick 2 is our ace and the club is wise to see it as our carrot to import an experienced mid. We can't afford to panic. If we don't get a nibble then the 2nd best 18yo in Australia is not high risk and should help. Viney, Toumpas, Trengove, Matt Jones, Evans can be expected to improve and Jack Watts is now in there too - you can decide if that's a good thing

I voiced my opinion on what I (personally) considered to be an uneven deal for most parties. And that I believe T mac should stay Bcoz of chip frawley's contractual situation and the fact MFC are not in a situation to be trading out a young promising defender.

But if your the sought that comes on here to put others down that's fine best of luck just not what I do, each to their own.

Btw you know what's embarrassing you mentioning in a post earlier in the year that you have turned off your tv and are not renewing your membership when the (our) club needs u most, I'm sure u will be a member when we eventually come good.

I can't go back to the transcript of what Ox said but he said something like he was very confident that we would be obtaining for our number 2 pick a guy at GWS numbered between 1 and 10.Then Mark Allen came back at him with "you mean between 6 and 7?" Then Shiel's name was mentioned. Only problem with that is I think he has number 5? Mark Allen may have just got his numbering wrong! I think it was on the run home on Wednesday.

As for all this talk about pick 21 or 22 for Sylvia compo, I just cannot see it! It will be more than likely around mid 30's (after our 3rd round pick) or at very best at end of 2nd round which would be early 30's.

Band 1 is after first pick, band 2 is after first round and band 3 is after second pick. Daisy and Buddy will be band 1. Sylvia could not be less than band 3. If he is I would challenge as since we didn't get PP we cannot afford more of this disequalisation.

Been reading along on the trade speculation (wont buy in to much being more than that at this stage, but fingers crossed) and felt a periodically mustered urge to weigh into conversation.

Just a collection of my opinions really no insider news at all and maybe not the most appropriate spot but I suppose it does somewhat concern Dylan.

It seems to me that at this stage pick 2 will be remaining with us, like me I am almost certain the club wont trade it for anything short of a guaranteed 20-24 yr old midfield star in the making, and to be honest I would be amazed if any other club would let a player like that go (mine included I hope in future circumstance). It just doesn't happen. I wouldn't trade Jimmy Toump for pick 1 this year even though I'm happy to admit, if not condemn him for the fact, that he was a little underwhelming this year.

This means this kind of trade despite not being limited to it, is almost certainly only going to happen with an uncontracted player, or at least a player who is grossly unhappy. To my knowledge none of our purposed targets meet this requirement.

So where am I going....

Well the though obviously occurred to me that some of them will in fact be out of contract next year or indeed the year after. Perhaps this whole episode is a somewhat elaborate ruse to put the idea of the generous contract they could be earning at Melbourne in their heads early, have our interest made clear to players that fit our criteria. Like many I am sure hopeful that our performance will improve next year, and we all know the perception of an improving club with 5 or 6 wins is better than a sliding club that may even have scraped into the 8 with 11 or 12 wins (for whatever reason).

Could we be getting a sneak peek at what the MFC is hoping to pull of next year? A slightly more useable draft pick around the 4, 5 ,6 mark being offered for a now out of contract young gun like Dylan Shiel? Or indeed one of the other slated targets whom's contract status I will happily admit I'm hazy on....

Or mayhaps this scenario will be put to stubborn clubs like GWS this year to urge them to action. Something along the lines of "Hey guys you know he is going to be super keen to come here for way too much money after we string together a few wins under the super coach, and next year there is no way we have pick 2 to give ya.... soooo come on, trade with us.. please..."

Ahh feels so much better to get these conspiracy theories out of my head, they argue to much in there.

haha have a listen to you Wiseblood, school yard whispers there....I remembered why I stopped posting for a while on here, lame people trying to take sides on a forum. Three way trades do not happen, and GWS get totally screwed, and Adelaide would have trade of the century if that worked. You guys get so caught up in this trading thing, you don't actually live in reality and see how implausible what you are saying actually is.
