Is this the time and place to remind everybody that the Board overlooked Stuart Fox twice as CEO?

Yep, and who did they appoint!

I think the coach has to report to Head of Football Operations and just ONE footbal report to the CEO. IMO there's no way there can be a new HFO, Craig and Viney at the club - one of them has to become HFO if they're both going to stay.

Correct. I've never seen an organisation with such confused areas of responsibility and reporting arrangements work effectively.

Jackson must remove all power and remnants of Hollywood Boulevard.

Then we can move forward.

And remove the 'Norm Smith Curse' of course!

That's what Jackson is saying and what will happen.

There could well be a new HFO but both Craig and Viney's positions would be different and would they stay on. It may be better for Jack if Todd moves on. If I were Josh Mahoney I would be getting my resume out at the moment, his position is probably the first to go.

What are they going to be doing - we've got Harrington in LM, Taylor in recruiting and Misson in fitness and conditioning - I can see a strong argument there's a new HFO and NEITHER of them are required let alone both of them.

Is Rabbit Warren any good as a coach, i thought he had a rugby background.

Get Craig Bellamy!

I think Jackson will be mindful of our impending debt for this season. He will probably have a look at staff contracts and see who we don't really need and if we can move them on at limited cost. Then those that are too costly to move on at this present time (and also those he considers bringing some value) he will probably rejig their duty statements to provide a more efficient outcome.

IMO we seem to be greatly over staffed in the coaching department at the moment for what is a relatively simple game! I do think cost cutting will be on the agenda though.

I can see the same, that's why it will be interesting to see if Craig takes up or is offered the HOF job. Harrington's position will also be an interesting one to watch, from the outside looking in it's hard to get a read on him.

Jackson talks about getting more experience into the club, maybe Craig takes over as senior assistant and a new HOF with experience comes in. At the moment Craig has a bits and pieces role and that won't stay, he takes some training sessions, he reports to the board, probably the CEO, runs some leadership courses, get's rolled out to speak with the media when things get a bit tough. It's a bit like Cam and Gary said, 'hey Neil come join us, just let us know what you feel like doing and we will make up a job for you with a good title'.

A CEO of any organisation should have no more than 6 people reporting to him/her. I would have thought at an AFL club only one of those should be football related; the others should include things such as membership, marketing, administration, commercial and operational (although some of these could be consolidated).

I'd like to see a structure with a Head of Football reporting to the CEO. That Head of Football should not be the coach but someone to whom the coach as well as the list manager and head of sports performance reports. Apart from anything else, under this model the Head of Football would put space between the coach and the CEO...which keeps the CEO out of the coach's hair.

of course. But one of the first signs I didn't like about Neeld was him being so involved in recruiting. He should've just listed his priorities and left it to the experts.

And I'm thinking where our list is at we really need a teaching and hands on 110% instructing coach. There isn't time or energy for someone to control the footy department and be the big boss.

Experts ??? We wouldn't have had any .. They need to be on our shopping list now...

Given Jackson's published examination of the club; thus far, I would be interested to know the cost of running the FD, benchmarked against other clubs. Are we paying over the odds, in terms of salaries paid?

And I hope he's looking at value for money. Any idiot can spend more money than the next bloke.

Dear gentle readers, please don't assume I wrote something inappropriate in my previous post. My [censored] word above started with 'i', ended with 't' and had 'dio' in the middle. That auto-censor tool is a powerful thing!

Agree that Josh Mahoney is the one who looks a bit exposed in all this, but there's certainly a place for Craig and Viney. You get the feeling Craig is much more interested in the performance, mentoring and leadership side of things than being a football administrator and part-time politician. Viney would be the obvious person as HFO, but not sure either if that's where he's at.

First things first I say!

Restructing can wait. Get a bloody boot studder, be stuffed if I;d be cleaning my boots on that salary, I might chip a nail or 2.

A few might be out on their ear, and looking for work.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
