INTO DARKNESS: THE BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS

He just mentioned "experience" and "development phase" in the one sentence.

"Neeld also mentioned

It is what it is. We don't have the 250 game players that's where it's at.

Young players will have good and bad games but there shouldn't be that much diff between games (something like that)

Jackson is very knowledgeable

It is a second rebuild it is what it is the fans accept that.

Don't make it about me make it about the players"

That's the end if Neelds comments

Geez each week it doesn't get any better does it?

That line will come back to haunt him many times.

If he actually said those exact words that is terrible.

Neeld has come to the end of his reign....no more left to say.

We will have a new coach for our next game imo.

If MN survives i will be staggered.

Wonder what drivel Mclardy will throw to the shareholders?

The question is does Neeld get 100% effort out of the players? and the answer being no, is the problem.

Neeld puts more effort into trying to talk his way out of poor performances than the team puts in on the field.

cya later mate.

Numb....gutted.....have been 'positive' for far too long. Now I am positive that I will not go again this year....and if they keep this up there will be no next year, as I will not be prepared to travel to Tasmania, NZ, Botswana or wherever Vlad in his infinite wisdom will no doubt transfer the club.

But, Deano74, they're not good enough to have a crack - that's the point.

We have players on the park that are not up to AFL standard. It's a brutal game and they just don't cut the mustard.

That's right but some of the ones we have on the park were picked by Neeld; Byrnes is past it Terlich will never be AFL standard and with Rodan and Pederson are an example of his appalling judgement. Sellar is not getting better, he is actually getting worse, Gillies is not AFL standard, all Neeld's men.

We were beaten by a side today that was faster, fitter, stronger, younger and so much better skilled than us and they had a game plan which wasn't "get the ball, if you can and hack it forward".

The coach can't hide behind the young developing side when he went out and drafted a half dozen mature aged hacks. It's his responsibility to ensure the players have the level of skill required to play at this level and we clearly don't.

he has a point in one way. Its the players out there who dont chase, man up tackle and kick properly. Maybe he really wants to vent but is holding back. Maybe now he is getting really really sick and tired of these players.

By the way how hard must Vineys head be. When he and Murphy clashed heads Murphy went down straight away and obviously stretchered off. Jack just got up and ran off. I wish we had 10 more of him.

Fair enough, I understand you're angry and hurting - so am I.

But we have potentially 10 - 12 players who are not up to AFL standard.

You need to acknowledge that, surely?

so does half the league. they [censored] us without raising a sweat. this is more than a "cattle" problem

yeah that's all well and good but he has had about as much influence as the boot studder on the actual matches this year

I give him about another 6 weeks before he gets layed into around here like everybody else who doesn't perform, young or not

Are you for real?

He sets the match ups, and the tactics and the pre match selection and it is his job to motivate the players and get them to play to an acceptable level without and without the ball.

Our list is not great but it is far more talented than the rubbish it serves under this coach.

I agree but I can see no point in sacking him before the end of the season unless there is someone outstanding available who is prepared to take the job on. If the Board doesn't allow him a full season to see if he can get the job done, It's going to be even harder to find someone decent to take over. We will be judged by how we respond to adversity. At least, I think we need to wait for our new acting CEO to pass judgement otherwise what's the point of him being there?

I would love to clutch at the we are young and developing straw, but we have lost to three teams younger than us now. Tough to be a Dee at present. We really need to look after Viney.

Well give it to them. Stop hiding behind all this rubbish.

Only +ve form today is the hope Jackson will stop treating the membership like a bunch of freaking idiots. For once give us the truth. Nothing can be worse than this rancid mess.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
