i am not disagreeing.

But Matthew Knights wasn't a terrible coach. He just wasn't Essendon.

Mark Neeld is a different story.

After 3 years, Knights had a W/L % of 33%. By any measure he's a fail. And he joins a number of coaches from other Clubs with similar coaching records. Indeed there are other failed coaches who a better W/L %.

Matthew Knights just wasn't any Club.

Neeld.....well he is different. He is such an unmitigated disaster. I think after years of on field failures MFC supporters are truly numb to the wreck of failure and blot out the current shambolic events over the past two years and look for fake whiffs of "improvement" when the side just rots with this disaster of a Coach.

Only MFC would tolerate and talk up such a disasteros coaching appointment.

I questioned the manner of the sacking of Bailey and the lack of process implemented by our saviour G Lyon.

We could not have done worse if we tried.

I find it funny the head afl man wants us to take up the port adelaide module, it is very simple win 5 games straight and get your fans onboard, no one can disagree with that. Im interested to see how peter jackson fixes our midfield, maybe convincing the afl to gift us the best midfielder in the comp by turning a blind eye to a massive third party deal.

Neeld has been a disaster so far sadly, alll i am saying is that Knights was a better coach than he was given credit for

The Golden Boy & Bomber have had a lot to work with.

Neeld is killing our list.

Might take him 6 months to wrap his head around how a club gets into this position

Just on Jackson, the only thing that concerns me is that we keep hearing about how at the Bombers he kept delivering $1M profits and was a real dot the i's and cross the t's CEO which is great, but he also left them with a massively under resourced football department and terrible facilities.

In fact the reckless spending to bring Hird/Thompson/Robinson etc in that resulted in this whole Dank affair was an attempt to catch up to being years behind in their football department spend. They're also only now building a new facility to upgrade from Windy Hill.

I'm not saying the Dank stuff is indirectly Jackson's fault at all, I just reckon we need to be open to spending the money to get the right people in place. Neeld has had more than $1.5M more in football spending than Bailey had - I'd hate to see that reversed (whether for Neeld or a new Coach coming in) just to ensure we have a fat profit for the CEO to hang his hat on.

Yes it is.

Anything a CEO does in any organization has a trickle down effect, and this is no different.

Although I fully expect it will be more hands on, and part of his appointment will be a fukk review of all facets including the football department.

We got rid of Schwab because he meddled in footy dept. affairs, we welcome Jackson because he is going to get involved in footy dept. affairs.

Whatever supports your argument I guess.

You're such a drama Queen. Neeld is working with the worst midfield in the league, a relatively new list of players and one of the youngest squads in the comp.

Cut the crap about "losing" the players. Players play for themselves and their mates streets ahead of the coach. Anyone who has played football at any decent level will tell you this. If there are players who are dropping their heads because of the coach they should go the way of our long list of mediocre talent which I have gladly seen moved on by Neeld and Bailey.

The team has a solid spine in the making and some more than useful talent. It needs Viney and Toumpas to develop and the inclusion of some A grade mids in this years draft. Stop running around waving your hands in the air yelling abuse and look at the processes being put in place.

Proper training facilities

Good development coaches with more room for improvement

Well funded FD

Quality senior guide in Neil Craig

A couple more quality draft picks coming up hopefully used correctly.

It's not the coach.

Not really, it is something that is constantly raised but it runs a lot deeper than just meddling in the FD. He created conflict in the FD and had overseen a failed rebuild of the club.

A CEO is responsable for the entire business including the FD as Ian Robson is about to find out at Essendon. The idea, whether correct or not that the board told Schwab to stay out of the football department would lessen the effective role of the CEO. Schwab was not good at the football side of things, his record shows that. Unfortunately he had a higher opinion of himself and his knowledge of football.

Brian Cook who played the game at the highest level and had a strong background in sports and phys ed (don't tell AD) was heavily involved in the FD in the early days working at Geelong. His record with premierships at WC along with his background mean't he had the respect of the Geelong FC and trust to make the necessary changes that helped build the club and culture they have today.

This site should be called dreamland not demonland.....

The AFL have targeted us through the media (there will be more)..... Our club has just about plummeted to rock bottom....... We are the only club punished for tanking/not tanking? And probably will be punished for involvement with Dank (Bombers will be clear) no one will even look at Gold Coast and Geelong....

Now we have the first step of the AFL infiltration.... The AFL have plans to move more here.... Peter Jackson will recommend relocation as the best option to fix this club.....

The AFL don't care about the MFC... They care about money.... They have been planing this for years.... Bulldog, Dees, Kangas....it's all the same to them..... There not here to help us....

The real questions we should start to think about is..... where do you won't to be relocated too? Can we keep our colours? What concessions do we get for relocating? Can we keep our theme song? How much money will the AFL give us to relocate?

All valid questions i think..... I'm sure there are more....

Knights wasn't a capable coach. And comparing him to Neeld doesn't make him any better.

No one is arguing the disaster of Neeld.

But your efforts to show discernment over Knight without providing any intelligent support just shows you up.

What a load of fluff? You should put the lid back on the glue bottle

It should be to MFCs advantage that they plant someone like Jackson in the Club.

MFC appear unable to manage itself competently.

Hopefully the AFL can install some basic competence and rigour over our operations.

I really want to take you seriously. I really do. But your spray has all the validity of " But Armstrong didn't take drugs".

For the all the things you promote that the Club has we are still week to week rubbish and Neeld doesn't know why it's going wrong.

And to think Bailey had none of those with a younger list and he won more games. Now Bailey was no September coach. But he is a genius compared to Neeld.

And is not the coach. LOL.

You're indirectly blaming Jackson for the Danks rubbish. FMD. Increasing spending in a FD does mean that you have to be reckless and incompotent in running your player welfare arrangements. The fault is with the current CEO

We are rubbish week to week due to not having a midfield, we have a relatively new list and its young.

Explain what you mean by losing the players and how that plays out

Cue: RR running around dribbling and waving his arms in the air. You're an imbecile tarted up as a forum bully,

And for the record, Brisbane and Port Adelaide, GWS all fielded younger teams than we did.

Answer my questions or don't bother replying

You're a broken record

Our problems are not Neelds making, this will become cleare as the season progresses

He won't last the season and shouldn't last past mid year at this rate.

There were no doubt problems when he took over but he has exacerbated many of them and added a number of his own. We are worse than we were with Bailey and you have pointed all the benefits puts Neelds way. Buts its not the coach.

He is not part of the solution for MFC but he is definitely part of the problem.

The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
