Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Casey Scorpions v Williamstown

KC from Casey

The times Toumpas got the ball showed why he was pick 4, sure I would have liked to see more but I'm also happy to let him get settled at Casey now he knows what is expected at AFL level.

He played well enough in the NAB cup and in the first game was one of the highest for pressure acts.

I have not seen any reason why that kid was taken at pick 4, give me a reason why he was, i cant see it?

Maybe if you opened both eyes...........

did you know they left the best of the emergencies in Strauss in Melbourne!

Although spencer is a beast at VFL level!

They took Nicholson up I believe so that was probably a bonus for Casey

Give Jimmy some time to get used to the different tempo, he has excellent skills and was highly rated by virtually everyone above Ollie and others, he will do very well once he gets a bit more confidence and he is playing in a team that can deliver it to him better and help him around the ground.

hes probably the best kick in the team and runs to space well. Can win his own footy (not at alf level yet). Has exceptional character.

In hindsight I'd plug and play wines but outside skilled types can take time.

Judge him in 3 weeks time he's bound to have at least 1 good VFL game by then

I understand your post, the clubs had multiple outside players,in hindsight i would take wines as well, but who wants a 18 yr old that weighs 88kgs and would run through a brick wall, Im glad J Taylor is there because Todd Viney cant see two foot in front of himself.

Glad I wasn't required to be employee of the month in the first 5 weeks of my first job at 18yo...

Give the kid a chance for FFS.

Fair enough, i would prefer a kid that wont need 3 yrs in the gym, but as one brain fart said, patience is a what ever, lets wait to 2018.

ahhhh hindsight it's a glorious thing, its easy to have pot shots at people from behind a computer isn't it. The bulldogs passed on Wines, i'm guessing their as incompetent as Melbourne as well.

Are you confident in the players our club selected?

having shots at guys who have just walked in the door is certainly not going to help their development or their love for the club.

How did Dom Barry go tonight? there selections are a [censored] joke.

Hogan is next year, we recruit Jump Jockeys.

You're just being ridiculous.

Viney 82 kg. Kent 82 Kg. Toumpas 79 Kg. Terlich 83 Kg.

For comparison: no. 1 pick Lachie Whitfield: 75 kg. Jake Neade (has been more than useful ...): 67 Kg.

And seeing you refer to Stringer at the Dogs, apart from Dom Barry, all of our picks were heavier than all of their other picks.

Not that that has anything much to do with anything. Carlton's top goal scorer today is 74 kg.

I look at players such as Garlett who did nothing much year one.

We seem to expect 18yo to walk in and change the team while playing in a team that lost its first 3 by 100 plus.

I think many here are heavily scarred by the Jack Watts experience and now are not prepared to wait for anyone.

Remember what a great first year Rhys Palmer had? Rising star....where is he now????

People on here need to recognise every individual is different and takes their own time.

The comments about Todd Viney are out of line given he knew Wines in depth and still went for Toumpas as most people agreed with.

Get some perspective and take a chill pill.

For what it's worth if you have been to training you would see Toumpas offers more from his shortened preseason than many others we have down there already.

Do you know how he went, or are you just assuming? If the MFC is such a joke, please go and support some successful club... I would really hate for you to have to do the hard yards.

Toumpas is soft and doesn't do repeat efforts at AFL level, I wouldn't think he'd do them at VFL either.

I watched the championships last year and they harped on about Toumpas and all he done was cherry pick off the backline.

Front runner and the last thing we need.

Meanwhile Ollie Wines was doing all the one percenters and the things that the MFC lack and we overlook him.

But our football department has got a lot of late picks right recently, Howe, McDonald, Matt Jones, Terlich looks a player.

Can't win em all I guess.

Dont tell me about training, i live 5 minutes from Casey Fields, i have seem more sessions than you have, probably 100 since O8, the only decent greyhound i have seen train there in that time is T Scully, i tell you now jim isnt fit to tie his boots laces.

we have done really well with this draft in my opinion, Toumpas shows class but needs time, viney is going to be a star, Hogan looks a ready made star, kent looks fantastic, jones and terlich both look like very solid AFL players also

critics of Toumpas need to be more paitent, wouldn't be at all surprised if he ends up being the best of all those draftee's

Mjt,

You have to look at the recent draftees in a slightly more long term view. 5 weeks doesn't maketh a career. Viney has looked good, Hogan looks sensational, Barry is a very long term project, Toumpas would look 100% better in a side not getting pumped by 100 points each week he's played. Calm down mate. These are 18 year olds. Every time I spend 5 minutes with my 18 year old nephew I'm shocked at what we expect from new recruits. Give em time.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
