Tynan and Taggart

Both recruited/drafted under Neeld in his first year.

Both coming back from first year injuries

Both touted as good pickups

Both just going in VFL according to reports

Can anyone in the know provide some insight on their development and potential in 2013?

You do know that Taggert is coming through after several back stress injuries? Both are viewing monitored and my feeling has always been that the club rated them highly. Taggert lifted his rate recently at Casey and is a very good disposer of the football. Would love to see his poise coming out of the back line - rather than the fear factor stuff we currently do against better sides when kicking out.

I saw Taggert this year & he has a big frame. He reminded me to look at, as a bigger version of Moloney in appearance,, in that he has fairish hair, a big solid body similar shaped to moloney but bigger everywhere & less cut at the moment. He looks a genuine 6' 2" type who'll end up being a 90Kg + mid.

Lets hope he can become a major ball extractor inside the packs.

Similar core issues to what Pickles has had to deal with I believe. His body shape reminds me of Gary Ablett Snr in his early days.

DL - that sounds promising 90kg mid. Really hope he comes on to fill that Ollie Wines chance we let go.

uhh, intersting, I never thought of that comparison until you mentioned it. maybe the footy dept are onto something?

as I remember, I think Taggert was recruited as a mid?

If he can become a big mid, with some of Archers traits, then we'd have something.

interesting, he may be slightly taller that GA-snr. snr was I think 6' 1".... I reckon Taggert may be 6' 2"... you could also say he has a barney rubble type build. lets hope he likes gatecrashing the party.

and other than body shape, how about footy attributes? Hoping......again.

both of them are just a few games into their 2nd season, and both had injuries as you stated

Both will be guns, i love how they go about it

We hear that so often - Sylvia, Watts, Tilbrook, Brommell, Grgic, Gysberts, Morton. etc etc - that I for one have become very sceptical when I hear it.

Hope you are right, though.

They weren't touted as good picks. Only the club said that like every club does about their picks. It was a horribly weak draft and I was informed that pretty much after 15 clubs were guessing (for potential AFL classed players). Tynan himself was alright but my scout friend told me that Taggert was a horrible pick, he thought he should have been selected in the rookies. Although the club he works for is not much better.

One of the advantages of being virtually injury free is that we can field strong teams at VFL level which helps younger players like Taggert and Tynan in their development. We could have as many as 20 Demons playing at Casey on the weekend although I dare say that one or two might even have to have a run in the seconds.

In any event, this is the ideal form of development for these young players and I hope we see some dividends by the second half of the season in the form of some AFL games from Taggert, Tynan and also Dean Kent.

I have real hope for Taggert going forward with his height and size. Could be a very valuable utility and I'm hoping may find himself in our 22 by the end of this year or early next year.

Tynan I have hope for also, however I think may be more of a depth player. Will really be competing with the likes of Strauss, Blease, Toumpas, Dunn, Watts, MacDoanld, Nicholson, Terlich & Jetta for a role coming off half back and rotating through the midfield.

Good positive stuff after round 4.

I believe both will most likely be delisted or traded by the end of the year.

There is no doubt in my mind that Taggert has the footy ability to make it, the knock on him has been that he goes missing. It's the mental element that if he gets on top of will make him a very good footballer and maybe even better.

He would still be working on his tank too, if you're out on your feet then its harder to get to contests and you appear to be "going missing". Wouldn't have done much running while his back was stuffed.

This was the knock on him as a junior so it is an area he needs to work on. He's got pretty much everything else going for him, I reckon he will make it.

Taggert should make it. Has a nice frame, moves well and can kick. Look for him to build this year in the VFL. He can kick a goal as well which is nice.

Tynan, whilst I like him, is looking more like a bust. Doesn't have speed or skills required for the backline. Isn't tall enough for a third tall. He'd really need to become elite at defending. Now he's a good worker to win the ball but he doesn't use it.

With Strauss, clisby, jetta, terlich all looking preferable as small defenders I think we may be smarter to cut our losses.

taggert ran a 14.8 beep didn't he? I think he'll get the fitness base eventually. Like all draftees there's work to be done to get to afl midfield fitness and strength. Particularly the core strength that can take a long time in a taller build mid

I'm not confident about Tynan nowadays.

He hasn't comeon, & I saw something I thought was a sign of mental weakness at training, that has stuck in my mind.

If it is to be for Him, then the ball is in his court of his Own making.

I don't know what the actual statistic is but a lot of blokes don't make it dee-luded

Sad but true....

I've liked what i've seen from Taggart - (all be it very little) I have hopes he can produce at senior level but who really knows

Like I say, nothing wrong with the physical side or the skills but mentally he would go missing, this was what pushed him back in the draft. I really like what I've seen and think there is a good chance both him and Kent will be seen as absolute draft steals.

Tynan is a really good kid who gives it everything and it got him a couple of games last year but he doesn't have the natural assets others have so will need to work even harder to make it. Seems to have stalled a bit this year.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
