What a load of rubbish.

You're trying to make his comments into something they're not because you're a typical Watts hater.

The meaning of everything he says (not the article, but what HE actually says) is CLEARLY "we weren't good enough, we have lots of work to do".

You're looking for things to complain about when all he is saying is what we've all been saying ALL WEEK.

We're looking at the same thing from completely different angles. I can't make you see what I see. If you believe in subtleties in communication giving away the character of a person, then you'll come around to where I am. If you think it was just a generalised statement about the way the team can improve, then look, I'm not here to boil your bunny.

And Stuie, don't label me a Watts hater, because I love him. He was the right choice in that draft, I think he's awesome. He's just got to believe that he's awesome, get the mindset of a champion, and he'll be out of this world great.

Good on Cummings, I see where he is coming from.

Sadly for us, we will probably have to wait another year or so for Jack to come good.

Very much like Tom Hawkins, kids who dominate juniors, generally take time.

When they do come good though, they come very good.

Everyone knows Jack has the skills, they are just frustrated he lacks the vigour and desperation.

Well, Jack never had that when he was dominating Juniors, he was just simply too good in other areas.

I think Jack will do what Hawkins has done, but do it twice as good.

The pressure will ease on Watts as well, as Nick Nat starts to break down even more with injuries.

If you can be bothered re-read my posts, there's a consistent theme... I'm writing about getting the mindset of a champion. and not ever being caught staring in your neighbour's backyard. If you keep re-reading Jack's comments and coming back to me with what he meant to say, not what he did say, we're going to go round and round and round in circles bud.

Ok, I'm paraphrasing. Here's the quote.

You shouldn't be making statements like that. It's not acknowledging reality. It's not taking responsibility.

My problem is that you don't look at those blokes enviously. It takes you further away from being their kind of character. It's a weak statement.

What if its the truth though? None of us play for Melbourne, so we don't know really. All I see is that a few years ago they cleaned out all the experienced senior players, then gave the captaincy and leadership roles to a few 20 years old who had been at the club for five seconds (nothing against those players but they are inexperienced). But people like Brad Green still copped it every week for 'not leading' when he wasn't even deemed good enough by the club to be in the leadership group! Not like the old days where you had the older, experienced, respected players who had proven themselves as captain and 'leaders'. People like Adem Yze and David Neitz, Jeff White etc. I dunno, he's the one working there, not us. Maybe hes not trying to deflect responsibility, but maybe saying what he thinks is going wrong at the club?

There was a crap movie made in the 80's that made an amazing point... Stay with me, the punch line's a killer! In this movie 3 want-to-be-wizards lined up on stage hoping to be selected by the Grand-Master Wizard to be his apprentice. The Grand-Master Wizard held up his hand and put a question to each of the three "Choose the finger that a wizard uses for his magic...?" The first one chose the index finger, he was wrong. People put up with as much crap as they think they deserve. They speak with as much authority as they believe they deserve. They pressure themselves to what they think are their boundaries.

To take the next step, you need to believe that you're capable of something you haven't done. That means, that you get to the last quarter and someone needs to stand up, you say "That's alright, Daddy's got it under control."

If you walk around with a certain swagger, with your shoulders back and your head high, you'll become the person that you think you deserve to be. Become something great Jack...

I really like this - it's not just for Jack though. It's for a great number of our players (and our club in general).

I can recall a conversation with a TV Journalist and Baseball player Evan Longoria. Now he is a star now, but he was asked how he approached the game with confidence from his first 'at-bat' in the MLB and Longoria replied that he wasn't confident from the start, he just knew that no other feeling is going to help him as he stares down pitchers in the big leagues.

He then repeated a oft used US phrase: "fake it, 'till you make it."

I would like to see a few of our boys with their head up, chest out, and look like they are confident in themselves and their teammates.

After a while they won't have to remind themselves to show that confidence, they will just be confident.
