Anything less than that suggests another drab year awaits in 2013

Im more optimistic than you OD. I think we will be tearing it up by the third half of the year.

Does that mean the first half of 2014!

Do AFL member tickets admit to this game?

And is it just me or in previous years has club membership allowed for entry into NAB cup/Challenge matches?

Afl membership should get you in!

Selection is going to be interesting. Only four players - Colin Sylvia, James Magner, Cam Pedersen and the unlisted Jesse Hogan. Pedersen only played a cameo role coming on late in the game at Renmark.

On that basis, I think Sylvia and Magner will be rested but the remaining selections will be interesting as we move closer to determining the team for the opening game.

i wouldn't be resting sylvia jack. he needs work, work and more work :)

Not sure that will alter attitude dc

He is one of the few left from 186!

I think Brisbane in 2014 awaits

If anyone has not noticed both Leighoak and Bentleigh Club have a fantastic deal for this game.

It is includes lunch, bus trip out to Casey, entry to the game and a "roast dinner" on your return - all yours for $50 adults.

Parking and getting out of the ground will be horrendous and seating probably non-existing so get on board the bus and support the Club.

There are more details on the Club's website.

thats a good Idea.

if I was in the city I would have a go at that.

Would like to see the FD pick something close to a full strength side. Lets be honest both teams played a 2nd string side last weekend, and whilst a win is a win, it didnt teach me anything about the season ahead.

A good showing against the Saints would do alot for my confidence in the team and season ahead, and i'd suspect plenty for the playing group too.

This game will probably determine my enthusiasm for the coming season.

Lucky you don't follow Hawthorn or Sydney then, their seasons are obviously shot.

It's NAB OD, so it's basically just tanking: playing players out of position, resting key players, experimenting where possible, getting games into young players, trialling setups etc. etc. Given that it's not about winning, hard to take anything from it based on that.

Not to mention, Clark, Trengove, Blease and probably Sylvia and Tom McDonald rested/injured ... we're not yet a top 4 side, so take those 5 out and it's going to hurt.

Bing I hope you are not seriously suggesting that Sydney and Hawthorn will finish outside the top four.

I doubt we are much better than 14th spot, no danger of us worrying the top eight sides yet

Pretty much except we seem to have more & better depth, & a band of players who'll go in.

Exactly. NAB cup form doesn't count.

I am training it. Plan to arrive early dawes in case buses are chockers etc. Every time I go to Casey Fields I get a better appreciation of the infrastructure chellenges of the sprawl.

Lets hope this time I am not again separated from my wallet on Cranbourne station!

He's been named on the injury list as follows:

Colin Sylvia (ankle) test

To my way of thinking that means "rest" irrespective of the result of the "test".

Same goes for Tom McDonald who has been put in the same category as Colin but there are those who think Tom's injury might keep him out for a few weeks.

Suggest you leave your wallet at home and also refrain from staring at any of the passengers on the train, especially between Oakleigh and Cranbourne stations.

Take enough money with you for train fare, admission, food and if you're that way inclined, a punt on the TAB.

Demoniac just remember I have been advised that the first bus from Cranbourne will leave at 12.50 so dont get there too early otherwise it will be a long wait.

I suggest also to everyone that they buy their tickets at Ticketmaster as there is only one entrance at Casey and it is going to be mayhem tying to get into the ground. Also BYO chairs.

I'm hoping Mags gets a call up this week to try and back up his performance against Port. If he reaches that level again, put him into the middle for Round 1.

Nah, I'm sure Nuts would have been referring to finals in 2013. ;)

I hear you. Magner has generally done good things when he is played as an inside mid. when he was moved to a defensive forward last year his output declined and i think his confidence probably did too.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. Jefferson and Kentfield looked big and strong.  Petty was doing all the training. Adams looked like he was in rehab.  KE

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
