Glad you could afford a taxi......I couldn't then and so ran the gauntlet......"When the drink is in the brain goes missing" my old mum used to say...........With that reading it just shows that LJ's judgement was very poor.....So he drove....

Which doesn't make it one millionth of a percent better! Risking innocent peoples lives is wrong, please stop defending the indefensible.

Liam is in a bad place right now because HE chose to go back home last year on a friday night.

He left a very supporting network that even went to his home so as to understand his life better.

When Liam left on that friday night he knew what was going to occur, but he kept walking.

He made the choice to leave this support group & ever since then it has gone from bad to worse.

He blew it.

Sorry mate.....but you and I have no bloody idea about the issues he faces.....From a white, middle class point of view, with our three bedroom houses in the suburbs, our education and our social networks which most of us have had the privlege to have. His leaving a very supporting network means a lot to us but maybe not to him.....Did he know what was going to occur or did he return home to assist his family in the middle of a civil war....If you were living with the eskimos, would you return if your family were in trouble...Bloody oath you would.....It is easy to criticise when your safe and sound ......

I,m not saying its good Rob......I've been to many fatals......I am just saying that when your mind is that befuddled it is easy to take the easy way out.....Not defending it at all....

yes he did .27 on P Plates.

He should be looking at jail for that. P Plates is 00 last time i asked a young un.

Your old mum was right, and i am no angel. But .27 is a big drink...

Yes it is....And no doubt if he had injured or killed someone he would be looking at a lot of gaol time.....

i'm slightly concerned you took my joke seriously.

Obviously your attempts at humour need more effort.

People seem to be confusing 'making excuses for Jurrah' with 'understanding how he might have done this'.

Clearly anyone whose judgment is so bad that they drive when totally p!ssed for whatever reason (drink, mental instability, psychopath, homicidal maniac, whatever) should be taken off the roads for the safety of the rest of us and in many cases thrown in the slammer. But you can still try to understand why things came to such a pass without in any way condoning it.

BTW I am almost a tee-totaller and about as anti-booze and driving as any wowser you could hope not to meet.

i have spent time time up North in the Kimberley so i am not totally 3 bedroom suburban brick veneer.

If you think Liam went back home up north last year to innocently visit his family that is your opinion.

What happened was a bloody riot in Alice over 48 hours. It was pre planned.

i have already said i feel sorry for Liam, but he has been given A Grade assistance on many levels on numerous occasions and it is he who has walked away every time.

There comes a time.

You say that from your point of view. You don't know what goes on in that community and nor do I. However, I don't claim to have the absolutely correct moral judgement on all of this. What might or might not have been is all speculation and leave that for the stock market. Don't feel sorry for him if you like, though I do and won't back away from that, but don't celebrate what has happened either (I'm not saying you are doing that WYL, that is the tone of some of what has happened on this thread so far). We all should recognize that this is a scenario well beyond football where there are no winners. There are only losers.

No i am not celebrating Colin, far from it, but like a family member or a friend who keeps F$&@king up there comes a time when sympathy is no longer there.

He has thrown it all away.

It's been reported that he's suffering from depression.

Do people here know what it's like to be battling such an illness?

I'm not justifying what he's done. If you're that tanked you face a heavy fine and lose your licence but please have some sympathy for what the man is going through at the present time. If he is suffering from depression or something similar then he might not be fully in control and he and those around him need support rather than contempt.

Without defending or criticizing Liam, he was a Player whose ability and recklessness on the field was admired by most.

We wear the clothes we do, talk the way we do, eat what we eat and have the beliefs we do because of the direct environment we were exposed to during our development.

Right or wrong, Liam was influenced his entire youth by a very differant set of beliefs, morals and laws of life to what a lot of people are.

Nor with me if you check my post.

It still doesn't justify kicking a bloke when he's suffering the sort of illness he's reported to have.

Fair bit of first world judgement on an ancient culture going on here.

No, I don't have the answer - anyone who says they do are a fool or a zealot - but blind freddy can see how Liam is stuck between different circumstances.

I hope he can find peace and can live well one way or the other.

I don't care if football is a part of that healing process. But well done to his former team mates for trying to help him out.

I can confirm that he is suffering from depression and has been for a while. Has been on suicidal watch too btw.

My sons are doing the same as your daughter. I have worked my arse off to get where I am (such as it is). That's not the bloody point.

Its not a sob story, its about judging each case on its merits. Liam comes from a tribal society in the outback. You ever been there?

FFS I said nobody other than idiots or zealots claim to have the answer. You have just proven me correct you stupid ignoramous.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
