Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Who should we target in the PSD

I think Melbourne might have a word to Jurrah. We have a pick before Port and could probably offer slightly better money. He could also do some mentoring of Barry and I did hear rumours that the club was speaking with Aussie and he might have an appearance in Darwin. If Aussie came back, it might persuade Jurrah or vice versa.

Jurrah and Aussie are really good mates and you never know what might happen.

If either of them are in the red and blue in 2013, ill eat my own hand. Not a chance in hell.

Yep, no chance of it happening. Although, i'd like the MFC to still look after these boys. Making sure that there is still regular contact between all 3 of Davey, Jurrah and Wona. Both Aussie and Liam have been through difficult times recently, and whilst with Melbourne they were both mentored and had a great relationship with Flash.

If the MFC is truly concerned with these boys well-being, which they undoubtedly are, they'll ensure that through the MFC these 3 will always be connected and maintain a strong friendship.

Tanking and all that other bs aside, our club continues to ensure that friendship outside of the footy club continues. That's what a footy club is really about, camaraderie.

I liked Emma Quayle's Justin Sherman piece today. We should put him on a basic contract with the offer of increasing payments every year if he behaves himself, trains hard and plays well. He would be an excellent opposite number to Blease.

Given the sorts of players we've picked up so far I'd be amazed if we wasted a spot on the list on a bad egg like Sherman or Reimers. We've shown so far that we're far more interested in moderately talented players made of the right stuff than highly talented flogs who just coast. A spot on the list is nothing to be sneezed at, and while there has been the occasional exception, a lazy player is usually lazy forever.

What is Stiller from Brisbane like (currently training with us from Brisbane Lions)? What is he capable of adding to the mix that we are in short supply of?

With Jacobs nominating for the national draft, surely josh toy must be strongly considered. Despite his heart condition, this kid could add some extra talent across half back, as well as spending time in the midfield. With us being the first victorian-based club to have a pick we are in the box seat. Probably the best talent on offer in the PSD, we would be crazy not to have a good look at him

FWIW I agree with those who say Riemers would be a good pick up. Our problem in the past is that we haven't been able to manufacture any goals. He gives us the following which we badly need:

Run and carry

Speed

Solid return at goals

And a bit of spunk which is what Big Jim said he like about the Mitch Clarke acquisition.

I say go for it. I thought he was ok with essendon in fact he gave them that spark.

With Kelly O'donnel in his role as pro-scout I rekon that we might have some interesting later picks in the draft and the pre-season draft. With all our later picks I think that the footy department might have a go at some mature aged recruits like magner and couch who might be able to step into the team immediately while letting our youngsters develop further.

I reckon two or more Magners and Couchs will be a waste. Nothing against Magner, but we don't need 3-4 of him.

Likely posting suicide here but what about Kyle Reimers. Sure he's got a rubbish attitude on the field and probably not the best one off it yet but he's good speed which is a commodity we are very short in. Getting the chop from Essendon might be a good wake up call.

I'd consider him over Toy, Sherman and Jacobs if he could show you he's a hard worker.

No recycled player ever looks like a promising option but you have to deeply evaluate their skills and see what they can bring. I don't think anyone thought Brent Guerra could go from forward pocket who went around tackling and not particularly contributing much on field to a skilled leader of Hawthorns defense.

nah, don't like the colour of his footy boots

Personally, I think that it was the correct decision to retain Couch and Magner as rookies and promote Nicholson ant Evans (although the former has performed better to date). Magner started off well then seemed to burn out halfway through the season and this year in the pre-season he again seems to be firing. No problems in looking at Reimer & Co,. as long as we collect Wines and at least one other younger player.

I was thinking more like mature aged players that possibly could make an impact immediately due to their more developed bodies. I was thinking of more players with speed, run and carry and hopefully disposal efficiency compared to in and under contested ball winners.

Actually I think it is far more pragmatic than this, Magner had another year on his rookie spot, as does Couch, there is no rush to upgrade them. Meanwhile Nicho and Evans were out of time and would need to be re-rookied, which could be risky, upgraded or let go. Also I think Magners burnout probably had alot to do with it being his first season of AFL football, I suspect he will last the distance better this year, and would have been upgraded if this were the last year of his rookie contract.

A mature age player that has played for Port since 1993 and averages close to 20 disposals per game and is still only 27 years and 4 months old is Stevev Salopek. He has moved back to Victoria and is still keen to play. Why we took Rodan ahead of him is beyond me.

That's impressive that he was drafted at the age of 8!

We obviously opted for Roden because we had more faith in his body than that of a guy who has 20 seasons of the rigours of VFL behind him.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
