Brent Moloney Departing MFC

His original club will receive a compensation pick for the loss of the player, on an AFL-determined formula to apply where clubs lose more free agents than they gain in any single transfer period.

True. Forgot about that. And if we are going to be as active as we say we are, then it is unlikely we will receive anything for Moloney (other than any FA's we sign).

The only decent game he played this year was against Essendon. The club he tried to get to last year.

Says it all. He doesn't want to be here.

He didn't try to get to Essendon last year, was total BS

He was sounded out by them, he told them [censored] off

I would be sad to see him go but he has played the year like he doesn't want to be here. If that is the case then the best thing for club and player is to move him on and help him get to his preferred destination. Question is would port Adelaide be his preferred destination?

I thought essendon had interest in him and since they've got a much better chance of playing finals surely that'd be where he'd like to go.

If he doesn't want to go, I would be quite happy for us to have another crack with him. His combination with Jamar/Stef in 2011 is too recent for me to just say "give him the boot".

Great bloke. Has bled red and blue for 6 years up until 2012. One bad year and he is gone.

Rewind to the end of 2012. B&F club champion. He spoke about how you can play for the club or ^&%#$% off.

How fickle we are? Is it a club ... or a business? Don't complain about Scully etc if you offload Beamer after one poor year. Aaron Davey has had 3 shockers !!!

Yeah, it's sometimes quite discomforting to watch people buckle under a new regime, not getting what they want or were used to getting without any discipline. If Brent is unable to meet the criteria of the new way of working then maybe it's time to go.

All will be revealed very soon.

Must admit I choked on this bit. Cos I didn't see too much of it here recently, mainly just finger pointing.

Port are expected to face competition for Moloney but Kaider, of One Management, suggested the 145-game veteran could be tempted by the prospect of "nurturing an exciting, young group of footballers".

Not fussed if he tests the market or not TBH. If he goes he goes.

I hate it that MFC are disloyal to loyal players (which is why we should keep Rivers)...

However Beamer has been pushed out of our side due to his lack of effort... So I think it is time for Beamer to go...

Plus if Beamer wants out I don't really blame him.... He is bitter with the direction the club has taken, I am slightly bitter to and I would understand where he is coming from if he wants out.

Our club and fans are never ever loyal to our players, so why should they give a stuff about us?

Did you read my whole post? Just in case you didn't here is the first bit again.

So he wins our B&F and has one bad year and now he's out?

I think he's struggled in the same way most of his teammates have. Suggestions that he is "out of favour" are ridiculous, considering no one player has had their place in the team assured this year. Yes, even Jones a few times could have been dropped, had our midfield in general not been so inept.

Aside from him being dropped for poor form, what reasoning do people have to suggest he is "out of form"? The guy can still play.

Remember, Stevie J was "out of favour" at Geelong in 2006...

Beamer is way too predictable, and other clubs have him well and truely worked out. He is on the outer at Melbourne because he has been unable to add the new strings to his bow that are necessary under the Neeld game plan. Thanks for the memories Beamer, and good luck wherever you end up.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
