Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

No point sacking him now, he's been earmarked as gone from when Neeld walked in the door, just riding out the contract.

Who's available? What about Brett Lovett?

We shouldn't need to sack him-he should resign.

I do not believe he will be an assistant next year. I believe his time is up and i actually would love to have Ratten back as midfield coach if Carlton gives him the arse.

However,

Pretty hard for a midfield to win a clearance when the opposition ruckman wins 80% of the taps and stuffs them all down his own midfielders throat.

What I don't understand is how at our club there are 4 guys who are or have been AFL coaches and it looks like no knows what the hell is going on. On field.off field and players morale.

Apart from Craig we have some young coaches too.

Brian Royal may be a bit behind the times by the look of every bounce and thrown in we turn up to .

You have to laugh when the torch carriers wont to burn an assistant coach when they dont know exactly what his role is and the extent of his accountabilities and responsibilities.

Royal may or may not be a good coach but how the hell would a person sitting in the grandstand make an informed assessment. They cant. Its immaterial as his contract that was signed pre Neeld is expiring at the end of the season. And calls for his sacking or resigning are unnecessary.

But Royal would be handling his responsibilities in response to Neelds game plan. And given we have a 4th world mid field that has no class, little talent and no familiarity with the new game plan what moves do posters think Royal can make with the crud at his disposal to change matters?

Nevertheless the silly demand for his hanging will continue.

That's true, but almost 24 months of a midfield which still does not know how to set up, is a worry.

How do you leave Dangerfield or Thompson alone at every bounce?

How basic a skill is it to teach your midfield to position itself correctly?

I am no brain surgeon or rocket scientist, but even I can pick this up. Lost count of how many times a game I am yelling pre-bounce for our players to reposition themselves. We literally seem to run the wrong way at every bounce. It's bizarre.

I think Royal is unfairly potted on here. We are all screaming for a new midfield. But at the same time you all want this one to fire.

Get the Cattle.

True ... but I don't want us to draft and/or buy some premium cattle and leave them in Royal's questionable hands.

Get someone with a proven premiership pedigree in there who knows what they're doing.

Fair point. But this year he has had little to work with. We all know that.

$cully gone. Beamer AWOL does leave a big hole.

MFC could move Neeld sideways and bring in Malthouse!

Well seemingly his job is to coach the midfield. The midfield sucks. See ya Brian.

Same theory for coaches as players, we want the best, we currently don't have the best, so changes are coming.

Malthouse has said he would like to coach "in some capacity", we're building a "war chest", how about Mick Malthouse as midfield coach?

Might sound crazy at first, but he has worked with Neeld before, could work.

Good idea in theory, as he may be "cheaper" as an advisor or assistant.

Can't imagine him being second banana to anyone though.

In an interview on the rubbish pre-footy show on 7 last night he said he'd like to return to coaching but only in "some capacity", to me that sounds like as an assistant etc.

I reckon he'd still be pretty costly, but can't think of anyone better.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
