how many are we expecting at this game?

Another situation where I have to work and will be filthy with any Melbourne fan that has a can't be bothered attitude and not go.

Kick to kick on the ground this week, spread the word!

I think he is playing because we are so bad and have no-one else left

So where does that leave Cook?

No forwards left, almost no players left.

And the coach says he is no way ready.

Umm does not look flash!

I dont usually agree with you old dee but this time I do. I was expecting Cook earlier in the year. Especially when Clark went down.

Time may be up at seasons end

Oh Jonesbag I am devastated .

You mean you usually ignore my theories!

Seriously I am only making an observation on his non playing.

I have no idea how you find out but how many first round draft picks have not had a game in their first two years?

must be a low number you would think

It is very concerning. Looks like another pick wasted. It doesnt seem like he is even pushing for selection as well.

Well done MFC recruiting team. Add Cook to the Morton, Maric, Dunn and Bate pile.

Gee ... I thought last week's team sheet was a horror movie but

In Jordan Gysberts Jack Fitzpatrick James Magner Cale Morton Luke Tapscott Josh Tynan

Superstars every one of them... wow!

I know what you are saying there C&B, but on the other hand, how good is it that some of these kids that we have picked up are starting to push for selection (albeit due to running out of players!). From all reports, they all have been performing well enough at Casey, so their hard work is paying off. This IS the future of the Club, so let's give them a couple of games while the opportunity is there (against another week team), just to get that appetite for a big 12/13 preseason.

FWIW - can anyone tell me what the Casey theme song is? We may be singing it on Sunday around 3pm.

My problem is that he hasnt really shown anything at VFL level though.

He kicked 5 in the development league but since then he has rarely kicked a goal.

I dont like knocking on him because I had very high hopes for him but atm it just looks like he isnt going to make it.

I hope he proves me wrong.

We're obviously tanking !!

Whatever the situation, if we perform poorly (which is a good chance given the make up of the side), you can bet that Paul Roos will be On the Couch pontificating that our plight is solely as a result of the fact that we blatantly tanked in 2009. There will be no mention of the fact that our top goalkicker of this year and last are both out injured, that our AA ruckman and our next best ruckman are out injured, that Jack Watts whose form this year has been excellent is out injured, that about a dozen others are out injured, that more still have had their seasons interrupted, that the MFC has had numerous disruptions in a year when the coach was introducing a new style of play. Of course, Roos has no evidence that the club tanked in 2009 (his guest even denied it and called it "experimenting") and there is no empirical evidence supporting his claim.

My definition of tanking is when a club is doing nothing else but trying to lose a game. The only time I can recall an AFL coach coming close to that is during a pre season game involving the Sydney Swans. Perhaps the coach of the Swans of the time would be prepared to answer some questions a particualr viewer would like put to him about instructions given by that coach during the game in question. It would make riveting viewing.

Given Fitzpatrick, Tynan, and Magner have also been named for Casey while Morton, Tapscott, Strauss and Gysberts have not, could this give us a clue as to who will be getting a game. I think it'll be better for Fitzpatrick to keep playing that sole ruck roll in the 2's. He's been improving each week, so why not keep him down there a little bit longer and just get McDonald to pinch hit in the ruck. He played as a ruck/forward in juniors. Alternatively Sellar can pinch hit in the ruck.

That's because against 17 year olds he would've looked like a behemoth!

Am I the only one that has a feeling that Roos angst towards Melbourne has more to do with us giving his team the best pantsing the Bloods copped during his reign rather than tanking or any other matter.

I like the in's to be honest

Gysberts, Strauss and Tapscott need to deliver on glimpses of promise and the sooner the better.

I'm a Fitzpatrick fan, although admit that to date he looks bad at AFL level. He looks a different player at VFL where he plays with confidence

another point RE cook, is perhaps by not giving him a game we are able to negotiate a contract value which reflects this? I'm guessing the club would be pretty keen to keep these types of player on pretty low contracts where possible to keep room for the end of season raid on free agents etc

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
