Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Brad Green 250 AFL Games

DEELIGHTED

When you remember that Green's speciality was to be a lead and mark player with the set shot, it is least indicative of the output. It varied over the course of his career. At times he did seem to miss alot of "gettable goals" from 40 to 50 mtrs out within 45deg of centre. His efforts in the 2000 finals were outstanding and set a high expectation and a perception about his accuracy which was slightly glossed

I am not sure what you base your opinions on.

I dont think Junior would have got more than one year at MFC. And i think one year would have been the max for Bruce as well.

Green deserves a great send off from MFC this year for all that he has achieved.

Amen to that RR

Billy, you are not going well at all. Where have I said he should be the first to be given his marching orders. All I said was that he wont be 10th or 1tth, I listed my delists not in preference but I have Green as a retirement not the first go.

If they only want to move 5 to 6 players then there should be a 7th departure...,,,,,Mark Neeld should be quick to exit with them. The list needs a big overhaul. This is the year to do it.

You're giving him a fair ol' shove to force him in to retirement, which could be argued that it's a year too early. If he decides not to retire at the end of the year, you're implying that he should be made to.

Sounds to me that he's quite high on your list as a player to be moved on at seasons end, whether through retirement or forced retirement.

So what Billy? There is little achieve by you misrepresenting my point of view. You could argue all you like about timing Billy but Green circa 2012 is a far weaker performer than Green circa 2010. His descent has been significant and rather quick (2 years). But it happens to some players from time to time. He is finished at AFL level. Green competes with Jurrah, Sylvia, Howe for the half forward role next year at 32. He wont make it and I would not like to see him finish his career at Casey. The MFC FD dont rate him as a leader so there is little value retaining him on the list. If he is to have a mentoring role of the kids at Casey then put him on Casey's list.

i was worried at one stage he would not return to play his 250th. He has and thats great. But its over. I think he is the sort of guy to realise it and will go out on a high. Nothing worse than nominating for the draft like Yze and Robbo and getting overlooked.

Think the point is you've turned this thread celebrating a great MFC players 250 games into a thread of backhanded compliments and thinly veiled digs.

As someone mentioned earlier in the thread, would be great if we could put him on ice for a week and have him notch up the 250 at the 'G in front of the faithful.

Unfortunately, I think the state of the team with injuries etc means we actually need him to play this week.. many MFC supporters won't be there to pay their respects.

Well done BG >>>

The irony of that comment is that you made a thinly veiled dig at stuie, thus proving his point.

Back on topic please. We have a long servant of the club about to embark on his 250th game in a couple of days time.

It will be a while before the next Melbourne player achieves a 250 game milestone for MFC.

I'll say it will be Jones in approx. 5 years time ! Such is our list.

Coach Neeld suggested today that very few players in the future(not just MFC players) would get to 250 games such are the demands of todays sport.

Well done Brad Green, a professional sportsman;undervalued at his best and unfairly critiqued most of the time.

Not a 'legend' perhaps but certainly a MFC champion.

Well I will be there today cheering on Brad. Interesting to hear Neeldy say Rivers got up and spoke about Green today and said it was impressive stuff. Im not sure if Brad has another season in him so it would at least be a nice memory for him if we could win.

Yep.. Got to feel for the poor bastard. Not his fault hes surrounded by clowns, incapables , lazy sods and a handful of misfits ( for us ) that can actually play.

Not a 250th Id want to remember

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
