Having fun, Tom?

I have heard the new skoda car has a scully integrated fuel tank. What happens is you will be driving along and you check your fuel gauge and it starts to speak to you by saying I know there is interest in my fuel level but I want to be a one tank car and my fuel gauge will sort its self out. And then BAM! Before you know it you are out of fuel.

5 kicks and 7 handballs C & B. Let's not credit the little twerp with 5 touches he didn't earn

At 45% effectiveness, the lowest I have ever seen. We may have dodged a bullett.

I don't think it coincidence that we wouldn't offer Tom the money GWS did but we are happy to go there with Cloke.

Clearly we didn't think he was worth it and are being proven right.

I noticed $ully in a skoda advert the other day, dead set I nearly spewed.

First time I'd ever seen him with a smile on his face, it looked weird, like when John Connor tried to teach the Terminator to smile in Terminator 2 directors cut.

Was probably smiling because it was a paid ad I guess.

As in: “Skoda: like Tom $cully, an acquired taste”* ** †

* How much to acquire it? If you need to ask, you must be from Melbourne.

**For those who can afford it: guaranteed 60 months interest free football repayments

† To talk to one of our friendly staff, just phone McDonald’s Blacktown and ask for Phil

As Jon Anderson said on 3AW this morning, he's a dud and every time he goes out on the field he confirms it. It won't be long before the acid is placed firmly on him, if he was in Melbourne the press would be crucifying him as the worst number 1 draft pick ever.

Interestingly Anderson also passed comment on Cloke and said he's not worth the big $'s on offer, he pointed out his less than impressive stats this year which have been very ordinary.

I think it's incredible that ALL the recruiting experts thought Scully was a worthy top 3 draft pick.

Or did they?

Is it possible that the recruiting gurus from the teams that know they don't have high picks manage to circulate "artificial" opinions on the best picks in the hope that their true preferences get passed over?

We hear the summary of the thoughts of all recruiters via Kevin Sheehan on radio and Emma Quayle in the press. There appears to be no doubt that the recruiters chat amongst themselves, and the press are aware of the likely top picks.

I hope this is wrong , because I fear we at Melbourne may be victims, but , as alluded to above, we may have escaped with Scully.

I reckon Darling is a classic example. It seems rumors were circulated about his unacceptable behavior, and everyone was taken in. WCE calmly took him with a pickin the twenties.

Just escapes me at the moment.

Whoever came up with the idea of putting him in their ad should get the rrrr's. Brand poison IMO.

Everyone should send them an email saying that we refuse to buy their product because of their association with him :)

Im really referring to Scully, Trengove, Watts, Morton, and to a lesser extent,Sylvia and Maclean. I'm surprised you've forgotten them. You MUST be a very "old Dee"!

I know mate was just a small joke

I was referring to your comment about Darling

Grant Thomas has been stating that all year re: Cloke - an overrated player who is served by an excellent midfield. To me Cloke is a very important player to Collingwood in a structural sense, so too Dawes in a way. But certainly not their best players at Collingwood.

So hang on, let me get this straight

the recruiting managers of all teams artifically inflate potential draftees worth, yet Melbourne is the only victim to fall for this

Fanciful, just bad recruting / development etc

i think this may be true - always far easier to be a good player in a great team. Save the $ IMO

Someone asked Caroline wilson on Footy Classified last night what she rated scully out of 10 for his performance this year.

She gave him a 3/10, think she was being generous.

I suppose GWS are feeling the masive gulf between his performance and his salary and they want to put him to work in other ways. He'll be cleaning dunnies at Skoda stadium soon.

Are you (and others) still insisting that the MFC didn't have any tests/examinations made of Scully's knee? Are you saying he told the club something along the lines of: "Look, I've got a bit of a chronic knee thingy going on here, so you better give me a rest" and the MFC responded, "No problem Tommy boy... you're our #1 pick, so as far as we're concerned, despite all of the conjecture about your staying or going, your word is good enough for us"?

Sorry, but for me, that just doesn't add up.

Sure, we should be bitter with regards to how and why he left, but to invent scenarios and to suddenly (not necessarily in your case WYL) brand him as an absolute dud, when the same posters would likely be praising his potential if he had remained a Dee, is laughable.

And how many games has little Tom missed this year with a knee problem??

I'll try to help you get it straight.

Not ALL the teams' recruiting managers inflate potential draftees' worth. I'm suggesting the managers without high draft picks might try to influence those that do.

Melbourne wouldn't be the only victims. Other sides with picks 1 to 5 or 6 would be vulnerable too. Though lately it seems Melbourne's high picks have fared worse than some of our lowly peers.

Not so improbable, or "fanciful"is it? Perhaps it contributes to the "bad recruiting". I agree that player development is a critical factor also.

It is interesting how the "experts" all seem to agree on who are the top picks, and yet when, in the fullness of time, they show their worth, there often is a wide deviation from the outcome they all agreed on to be likely at draft time.

i think he'd be having great time.

His team has shown a lot more potential this season than ours and they have youth on their side as well.

We try to rub it in to him but really when we look at it we don't have anything to rub in in comparison to ourselves.

Yes we smashed them but they are a team full of kids.

If they were of equal age to us then it most likely would have been a different story.

Tread carefully with theTom drubbing, i can see it coming back to bite us. hard.

Tom doesn't know the meaning of fun and they are in for worse than they have shown .

Wait till everyone gets the hell out of there and goes back home .

We , as a club ,are in a dark place but the light will appear soon .

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
