Game Day

Can not take a trick this year. Jamar down after Spencer showed a bit last week but not on the park. I really think that threw us out a lot in terms of forward structure without Stef forward and it showed in the 2nd quarter.

On a big positive note - Strauss! A player with foot skills.

If you're being tackled, it appears you can simply drop the ball and you'll be fine.

It's the AFL's attempts at "keep the ball moving", it's not rewarding the tackler and then in a disputed ball the person who actually tried to get it and is tackled and locked up straight away gets done with no chance of getting it out.

On the game, I think we're really going to struggle with only one ruckman, Stef you can already see is doing it tough. With that in mind the mids, in particular the in and under need to be able to crum off the freo ruckmen and a few players like Sylvia and Howe may need to go third man up a few times.

Positives:

Good to see Green with two goals, we need him to kick a bag if we're any chance

Tom Mac seems to be ok after his bruised lung and is doing some great defensive things especially with dropping his man to help Chip on Pav

Nicho is doing some good runs, he just needs to have an idea of where he's going because he tends to run himself into trouble

That goal from Bail came because of his hard work to create an option, will be highlighted for sure during the week

We were able to come back and settle in the second quarter after it looked like freo would run over the top

Strauss out there

Negatives:

Our disposal still let's us down, we are our own worst enemies

Jamar down

Grimes may be down

Rivers, Howe, Garland MIA

Any idea what the go with Grimes is?

Saw him running down the race after he hobbled off.

Currently crying a little on the inside!

Ankle, seemed to land awkwardly then the freo player landed on it.

Not being pushed around. Strauss with the laser boot. A lot will depend on whether Stef Martin can run the game out in the ruck. Don't want to see Col in there again. Ricky P needs to lift- they are really quick out the back.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
