- Michael Pickle Evans will play for Casey this week (2nds most likely) - great news!

- Sheahan wont play

- Lawrence is 2 weeks away with a calf injury

- TMac, Jamar and Seller to all push for selection (TMac needs OK from the doc)

I have to say (because I cannot help myself) that LJ is either the unluckiest player going round or he is the slowest healer going around.

Every injury he gets seems to take forever to get over.

This will bring the wrath down on me but I am beginning to tire of LJ and his problems.

However, it's annoying me because it seems like they're calling him injured when its more like he's not deemed fit enough to play in a game!

Every training report says he's running laps at a good pace. Surely his ankle can't be 2 weeks away if that's the case?

I'm not really into conspiracy theories or the like but I wonder if the idea all along, once Liam incurred what was at least a medium term ankle injury, was for him not to play until after his next hearing in NT was over. This would have kept him out of the limelight and away from publicity which, in the circumstances, was probably a good thing.

I say this because, effectively the downgrading from 2 - 4 weeks to 1 to 3 weeks is virtually meaningless. It's hardly likely that Liam would be selected for Melbourne first up if declared fit to play the weekend after next - especially since the game that weekend is against Port Adelaide in Darwin. He won't be playing in the VFL that round either because both Casey teams have the bye. Which means that realistically we won't be seeing Liam Jurrah playing until Casey's game against Frankston in 2½ week's time and after his date with the court in the NT.

Either way, I wouldn't be getting too excited about the new 1 - 3 week classification for Liam Jurrah's return because it's virtually meaningless. He has bigger fish to fry both in the legal sphere and in terms of achieving some sort of reconciliation in his wider family and within his community in Yuendumu and in that regard we should be hoping for an early and a positive outcome for all concerned.

Im not actually expecting to see him play this year at all..Ive actually considered the idea we wont see him play again as a Dee. I just dont get any positive vibes about this who debacle at all. I do wish him well but the splitting of his heart might be a bridge too far. The call might be too great.

I agree with you WJ.

When the extent of his injury was known after the Swans game my imediate reaction was we will not see him again this year.

Due to his proven slow heal rate in the past and events in the NT

I am fairly confident I wrote that on one of the treads at the time.

I remember saying we may never see him again I still think that is a real chance.

I have written him off for 2012 and perhaps forever I wonder if he has the body to make it in the AFL!

Agree with you WJ, but I think the next hearing is a Committtal and if he is committed for a trial, then it will go on to next year most likely. His best bet is a finding at the committal of insufficient evidence to go forward.
