olisik made a good point in the Under 18 carnival thread about Toumpas, Stringer and Wines.

I don't watch the under 18s very often but looking at today's game I would go with:-

■ Toumpas;

■ Stringer; or

■ Wines

Thoughts?

sorry forgot to mention him, I'm assuming that we are definitely taking him no matter what

does anyone think stringer could fall to pick 12? Or is he too highly rated

Toumpas for me. Sounds like the perfect match for Viney at 3. Class and pace to go with Jacks mad attack at the footy.

If we are KOTD and Viney makes it through to the second round I'd take Toumpas and Wines.

Stringer could be a slider imo and he might still be there at our mid round compo pick but I'd take Mayes or Colquhuon before him if they were available.

v Garlett

Feel like garlett will be ready for us at pick 12

It'll probably be pick 13. I've got a feeling he will continue to climb. He could be worth the reach at pick 4.

Cant take him with pick 4, thats a big stretch I think.

I'd risk him being there at 13, look he probably wont be - but theres some good kids between 4 and 13, very good kids.

SA have an abundance of quality young talent that will go high.

Wines over Stringer and Toumpas.

I think Wines goes at 3, then we decide who we take at 4, which is wide open!

Oliver Wines for sure! reminds me of dustin martin alot! good head on his shoulders too.

Absolutely spot on, that is the comparison I made aswell, not Sylvia, Martin!

Well balanced on both sides, ferocious, desperate and has that shrug.

Toumpas at 3, Stringer at 4, Mayes at 12, Viney second round. I also really like Wines, but top 5 is too early and he won't last til 12.

Stringer is a brute.

That said, we might off-load one of our first round picks.

What's the best place to read information about these guys; i.e. teams, positions, height etc.

Toumpas clearly on that showing. Although he slowed down in the second half, his ball getting, composure, kicking action (especially the posture) and ball use were all fantastic.

By the way, that smallish leftie Kennedy (?) is a Shannon Grant lookalike. If he were available in the second round, I'd grab him. He will play a lot of footy - very nice penetrating kick and gets the ball well.

Toumpas. 15 handball receives. Just the kind of player we need

First time I've seen him but didn't strike me as an outsider. Good reader/presenter I guess. On a related note, the commentators spoke about Vic Country's lack of spread.

I didn't see the whole game. What did people think of Whitfield (clear #1 pick apparently)?

26 disposals (20 kicks) at 92% efficiency. Certainly is the type of player we need

For those that have watched a bit of the championships, is Martin and Hogan worth going for in the mini draft?

Using Gold Coast and Adelaide as a guide.

Mini Pick # 1 -> Pick 4 and Mid 1st round compensation pick

Mini Pick # 2 -> Pick 10 and 1st round compensation pick

So if we wanted to get mini pick one, we would most likely have to part with pick 4 and 13.

Would people be happy with....

Mini Draft Pick # 1 - Jack Martin/Jesse Hogan

Pick # 3 - Jimmy Toumpas/Jake Stringer/Ollie Wines

2nd Round Pick - Jack Viney

whitfield is a jet.

toumpas (no 's'), wines at #3 and #4 for me, then kennedy with the mid-range pick, followed by viney with the second-rounder.

i'd love grundy with the mid-range pick, but he won't last - wouldn't be surprised to see gws snap him up.

i'd rate toumpas and wines over martin and hogan, and we could probably get both, but it'd be hard to be opposed to it.

No way, not a hope in hell.

Your saying we package pick 4 and 13 to get Martin, not happening.

Garlett is the equal of Martin and we probably get him for 13 alone!

On top of that, at pick 4, we will get a better player than Martin.

So, 4 and 13, makes no sense at all for me.

O'Meara would go number 1 in this draft - or VERY close to it.

I think Martin is good - but the most I would go is pick 13 and a player.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
