Jetta straight back in to the seniors is a pleasant surprise. No development league this week?

I agree Nasher, and I'd love him to play where he is named in the BP. I reckon he could carve out a fair career as a small, deep defender. Disciplined, hard at it, reads the play well and very good overhead for his size. Not the quickest and not the greatest kick, but would be very dependable imo. If he's going to make it, the BP may be his go.

Jetta and gysberts back playing footy, you beauty!

Williams has come a long way, from where he has come from and his illness earlier this season to be playing vfl is a good effort

Says a lot about Ablett that he can only make the interchange bench at Werribee!

It probably says that McKinley is a better prospect as starting key forward than Nathan I would have thought.

Nathan Ablett won a flag and i dare say if he never quit and had the passion/desire that his brother has, he would've had a very very good (if not great) career.

May be worth keeping an I on?

No thanks, he seems like a list clogger to me. I'd rather we give the spots on our list to players that have proven that they have a desire to play in the AFL rather than those who take it for granted.

He is going to be some player this kid.

Any reason in particular that Sheahan is on the extended bench/development squad (other than poor form, of course)?

Great to see Jetta back!

He has had a good season up to the last couple of games where he has struggled. He is a good player this kid with a lot of upside so I hope they keep with him.

I wonder why some of the MFC's extended bench aren't also listed for Casey?

Looks like there will be 2 emergencies who don't get a game

Wouldn't be surprised to see 1-2 late changes to the side, especially with Spencer named in the 25. Bail's availability would rest on the neurological tests to be run today, I believe.

DC as I understand it the emergencies travel to interstate games in case someone comes down sick etc on the morning of the game.

I remember Davey and two others travelled to Perth earlier in the year as emergencies.

There was talk at the time they might get the late flight back to play with Casey.

That never happened so they played for neither side that weekend.

There is the added problem this weekend with the start of school holidays that the flights are booked solid.

I am going to Brisbane tomorrow morning and tried to change flights.

No seats in any class Saturday or Sunday.

So no chance of rushing someone to brisbane.

OK. And Jack also added to question mark over Jamar/Bail failing fitness tests

Must mean things looking good for #7

Grimesy, I didn't say recruit him.

I suggested watching him closely... the guy has huge talent, but needs to be watched to see if he has the desire. Nothing more.

That is fair enough. I doubt he'll ever get back into the AFL though.

Nathan Ablett could barely get a kick when he was playing for Broadbeach, let alone in the AFL. He is finished. He was given every opportunity at the Suns, and if he wasn't going to make it there playing besides Gary, he is done.

Nath Ablett has all the talent in the world, but not the personality.

His general nature is far too passive and only ever wanted to play footy to have fun with his mates.

The determination to succeed has never been there.

I do to, but if he's true about what he said, having a real dip.. We'd be foolish to not follow his progress.

He could be a cheaper option as backup to Clarke than Cloke, as we wait for Watts Cook to grow into they're bodies.

These attitudes can change as some grow. As does an Open mind.

Nothing ventured.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
