Putting aside agendas and wants, here's what I think reality might be:

OUT: Clark, Dunn

IN: Tapscott, Martin

No way Sellar will be back up ruck, when he and Watts are the reason Rivers and Garland are forward, especially now Clark is gone.

Dunn wasn't bad, but Neeld seems to like him as a utility for depth, so I'd expect Tappy to replace either him or Bate, and Bate would have the edge after the GWS game.

Can't believe how many people have Moloney out given the size of the team we're coming up against and the faith Neeld has show in him and his new role so far.

Moloney will not be dropped. I am not a fan and agree he is frustrating when he tries to bust packs but he is starting to get the defensive aspects which dont come naturally to him as shown by his 5 tackles last weekend.

McDonald was good on the weekend and Tapscott is no automatic selection. I would go with one change Clark for Martin. I am not a Martin fan but he is the best option and will remove the need to move Sellar from his key defensive post to ruck.

Good judges agree with you he got the Rising Star award for sundays game.

I desperately want to see Couch this week if only to say, "you thought Zorko was good, wait til you get a load of this guy.."

Posted

i don't know why Couch was elevated, am i the only one here who thinks he is over-rated?

I actually see him as being the worst player on our list, harsh but someone has to take that spot.

He is the same type of player as Magner and Moloney, just not as good.

Errrrr..... You do know he's been in the BOGs nearly every game he's played for Casey yeah?

Think the question really is, why was he elevated if he wasn't going to be given a chance?

out clark, bate, dunn, macdonald

in martin, tappy, bail, davis

with another added to the long term injury list we get another rookie elevation (as is my understanding-i'm sure i'll be corrected if wrong)

so whats the word on williams or sheehan?

Bail has missed three weeks with concussion -- surely then one would expect him to have a modified return, through Casey, even possibly their reserves (or whatever they call them now) with lots of time on the pine.

I agree Monoccular and his form before that was ordinary

On Sunday, Jamar played a lot better. Competed, took marks, had some non-ruck impact. Given how Neeld has been willing to experiment perhaps move Jamar to FF (he knows how to kick!) and bring in and play Martin as first ruck. For mine, Jamar is a better option to replace Mitch and Martin demonstrated last year that he could do OK on the ball.

So, you want to put Jamar at full forward, where he will fall to his knees at the slightest sight of the ball. This guy spends more time crawling around a footy oval than any player I've seen. At least put someone there who can stay on their feet.......Martin.

2 things:

1. How would one know? He hasn't played an AFL game yet. Have little point of comparison.

2. He isn't on the list. He's a rookie.

It's posts like this which make these change threads a bit of a waste of time

Are you serious Dunn & Bate were both very good last week and Mcdonald is hard at it, thats what Neeld likes in players. Lets not suggest in's and outs on agenda's

A few are calling for Davis to come up but his form on the weekend doesn't warrant a call up just yet. He was pretty well beaten by Wilkes and besides our defence is going pretty well at the moment.

The only change I see is Martin for Clark.

A few more weeks for Gysberts to get some run into his legs and it will be great to see him up for the rest of the season with a bit of luck.

Hopefully we get to see Cook before the end of the season, it's up to him now to perfom on a consistent level and push selectors for a spot.

Would also be good to see Strauss up before the end of the year but I'm sure they won't be pushing him too hard after one false start. He looked good on Saturday for a first up, great kick of the ball and looked confident in his ability which was one of the things that held him back in early years, lack of confidence that is.

Tappy and Magner are playing for the same place as a defensive forward and according to the skipper they are happy with how Magner is going so I think Tap will get a run back at Casey.

He was elevated before the start of the season rpfc.

And at the end of the season he goes back on the RL.

It's just a temporary elevation.

I think it's funny how you never admit you're wrong! :)

I'm not wrong. For all intents and purposes - Couch is not on the list as if he was to 'stay' on the list into 2013, someone would have to be delisted.

And I do admit it on the odd occasion that the planets align and I am wrong.

Garland in 2008 being delist worthy I was wrong about, and I was wrong to trust the word of a simpleton and his disgraceful father last year. I have admitted that.

But, yeah, Couch isn't a 'listed' player. He is not one of the 38+1 (38 Primary list players and Vet - Green).

Posted

Why is everyone dropping Dunn.

He is one of our better contested marks (not high flying, but good positioning) and one of our better users by foot.

I think gets too much criticism and would be in my 22 each week.

Plus is an avenue to goal, which we will need due to Clarks absence

Posted

Why is everyone dropping Dunn.

Probably has to do with the fact that he has been a massive tease for the better part of a decade.

And the fact that he will most likely leave at the conclusion of this season.

Well maybe this is a problem in itself.

One thing you can say about Dunn is he seems to give his 100% when he is out there.

That chase down when the game was already cooked was very impressive. ALOT of other melbourne players would have given up.

I'd drop ALOT of other players before outting him.

I would say that I have seen Lynden give up on some chase downs like that...

You cannot show me one blueberry and then ask me to buy a whole punnet every week in winter for another couple of years.

Good stuff! I was only kidding. Just out of curiousity & totally off topic...what does the great rpfc stand for?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
