A good win by the boys but there may be some changes with injury.

Whats everyones thoughts?

Out:

Moloney

Clark (inj)

Magner (rest?)

Joel Macdonald - didn't do much wrong yesterday

In:

Gysberts

Cook/Martin (if Clark inj)

Couch/Tapscott

Troy Davis - plays similar to Joel Mac - may replace him later on.

The only change I think we need to look at is Clark if he's injured. I would make a straight swap for Martin in that case.

I honestly think everyone on the field earned their spot yesterday. If I had to single out one person to be dropped on that game it would be Davey, but even there he is starting to show some form and it would be poor reward to drop him at this point.

Clark doesn't sound too bad, he may well play from reports I've heard.

Internally they are happy with Magner, I just thought he may get a spell.

Yes everyone made a contribution although I thought Moloney was poor against a team which he should have monstered. We need Moloney firing but I wonder how much this free agency business is on his mind. Cannot afford to lose Clarke. I would stick with the same team.

Yes lets not forget Moloney is meant to be our no.1 dominating beloved A grade Dees mid who bleeds red & blue gun..... What was I saying - oh yep, he needs a spell!!!

Think Gys needs another few runs in the Magoos.

Don't think Joel Mac did enough wrong to get bumped by a debutant.

If Clark doesn't play, I think Martin is a better answer than Cook, given his versatility, but neither really appeals at this point.

Maybe Couch in for Magner if he needs a rest.

Would love Bail to get a run, but heard he can't pass post-concussion tests. That's a worry, one month down the track.

Sellar and Joel Mac are safe now because we need rivers and garland as forward options more than ever with Clark ruled out for the season

Out Clark

In Tapscott

Not like for like, but Tapscott started to have an impact.

Our forward line worked well in the second half without Clark.

I would rather have the Gys in for Beamer, but I think they'll give him another week at Casey

Get well soon Mitch - it doesn't get much more gut wrenching than this

Hell!

I suppose that is where demons come from But can this club take a trick in 2012.

I am going to this game in Brisbane

Tonights news is devastating.

Thought we had a good chance but now it looks a lot harder.

Just have to prepare myself for a brother rabbiting on about the Lions all bloody weekend.

Changes:

Really it has to be Martin in I guess he is the only one that fits the bill if you look at the ones that played at casey on saturday.

Tapscott is not a key position player so unless there is another injury

it is

HG, i don't reckon that Moloney will get dropped this year.

I say that because it looks like Neeld's got Sylvia on board and I reckon he'll work wonders with Beamer.

Having said that, he's lost what little pace he once had and he's better off as a one-on-one HFF, because of his strength.

Not really excited by Tapscott, but even less so by Martin.

There are few players at the MFC who I wish wouldn't back themselves so much - he's one of them.

He plays OK in the back line because like Watts ( a fellow basket baller) he can read the play much better.

WHen he's in the ruck, he needs to give it off more rather than rely on his athleticism to deliver a crap kick or take the wrong option.

In the forward line it's much the same. A brilliant athlete and a footy nuff rolled in to one

I think Moloney needs to learn to give off ball as soon as he gets it,not take em on and get caught its like watching rugby.

Get the ball fire off quick hand pass out to player on outside or throw the ball on boot for a quick clearance forward.

At the moment he gets the ball takes them on gets caught causes turn over or at best another stoppage,we need clearances as well as this we have Mc Kenzie there as a tagger who's first option is to stop a player not go for the ball. This is why Jonesy has to bust his gut week in week out.

Some of what you say RM may be true

However I see no other option

There are no tall options who are fit at present.

It is Martin or a short arse IMO

Fair point and Martin will probably get the FF gig and swap with Jamar. I would argue that we play a tall side at the outset and wouldn't suffer too much - although it does mean Sellar is the back up ruckman

Different to what I heard. I heard he has been getting headaches which have prompted late withdrawals.

How's that different to what Undeeterred said? Headaches, especially chronic and severe ones, would ring huge alarm bells for a post-concussion test. I suffered a severe concussion as a kid and I had problems like that for ages, and that was only one; Bail has had a couple now (anyone remember when that prick Robinson ironed him out in the VFL a few years ago?). Given the club's experience with Bell and whatnot and all the fuss around heads, there's zero chance they'd roll the dice with these things, and nor should they. I'd hate for Bail to suffer permanent brain damage.

As for the change it's just a straight swap of Martin for Clark for me. I have sympathy for Roger who wanted Tapscott for Clark - I'm not particularly inspired by selecting Martin who has been poor all year and Cook who's not ready, so a non like-for-like selection would be okay. The only problem for me is that we need someone to play second ruck, and I don't want Sellar's progress in the back line to be interrupted. That leaves us no choice but to play Martin I think.

We can't have Russian ruck one out all day.

Martin In. Tapscott In.

I wasn't sold on Davey Out and Clarke (inj) Out.

I'm conflicted here because I wan't Tapscott and Bail in but I'm a believer in minimal changes after a good win.

Martin actually had a good game at Casey.

Used his hieght and strength well. Still can't kick if his life depended on it but will at least will cause a contest and hold the ball in.

Will also hold his own in the ruck.

Would also like to see tapscott back in as he showed some much needed mongrel vs the pies.

That said no melbourne player (ex moloney) deserved to get dropped.

Time for our senior players to stand up and be counted.

Moloney

Davey

Bate

Dunn

Sylvia

Jamar

Rivers

Non of these guys ever progressed to top players (most went backwards) and thus we find ourselves bottom of the ladder

You don't drop players who are playing against their old club. Watch the replay again. 25 mins in the last quarter Joel put in four great efforts on the members wing. Was running his guts out. Deserves to stay in.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
