The real shame is that Wojcinski will likely retire at the end of the season, and we'll never get to see them play against each other again.

A real shame.

Wojcinski's bump to Viney has been refered straight to the tribunal and he has been offered a week for the hit to the jaw.

Yes.

Do VFL penalties, for AFL listed players, apply to AFL games?

Yes

Referred straight to the tribunal usually means that they 'view it seriously' though the inconsistencies are so gross that anything at all could happen, or nothing.

So let me get this straight- Viney gets smashed in a wreckless bump, gets a broken jaw and is out for 6 weeks whilst having to eat his dinner through a straw and Woj gets 1 week- yet Dangerfield gets mild concussion in a Trengove tackle, plays the next week and Trengove gets a 3 week suspension?

This is the biggest load of [censored] I have ever heard!!!

You didn't read the post correctly.

He is suspended for 1 week for the punch and is about to go to the tribunal for the bump - where he will get life, or possible execution via Todd's mum.

Ahhh, my mea culpa!

Take a bow Wojo. Punching an 18 year old in the head and breaking his jaw in a seperate incident. You big, heroic brave man. What a disgrace!

17 year old, and I know a good dentist.

Who cares what he gets at tribunal? Are we that soft a club (supporters) that we throw a hissy fit because our player got a heavy hit? Pretty sure Jack Viney would say thats footy and move on. So should we. We need to toughen up.

Lets hope Jack Viney is doing the same thing to a debutaunt in a few years time!

I was with you until the last garbage sentence, never want to see a MFC taking cheap shots, its a disgrace.

I trust Jack has a few more brains than to do something so stupid and gutless.

And you think that is being tough? Oh dear.

You're not just a pretty face.

Actually ,that's pretty lucky in your case-and I'm no Brad Pitt I'll readily admit .

They actually showed the incident on AFL360 on Fox, and it was how I remembered it. Gawn (not Max). Note it is different to the bump then punch footage that had been on the news...

The punch is one week.

The bump has to be pretty minor otherwise footy isn't a mans game.

Wojo should go as the rule is now if you hit a player high with a bumb you've deliberately not tackled and therefore you are up for 1 week. I'd add a second due to the force.

But really we should all get over it. If wojo got 0 or 10 weeks it makes no difference to us. No one is complaining about whoever broke Gysberts (or Wade Lees for that point) jaw.

Have you seen the footage? It was more bad luck on Jacks part than anything malicious from Woj. It was just a good hard hip and shoulder, may get a week or 2 because it was slightly high, but probably just the fact that Viney is so small. I will be VERY happy if Viney is laying bumps like that. Describing it as a cheap shot is just plain wrong. Per haps you were referring to the punch that he copped a week for?

Posted

I don't give a damn what he gets, 0-10, I just reckon he took a sniper shot, not just a bump which I'm all for, calling it like i see it is all, personally I'm super rapt with Viney, I didn't believe till this week that he'd be much, now I believe and that makes me very happy. And I reckon if there is a round two Wojo will be the loser, I cannot remember a 17yo being so in your face before, especially a ompaloompa like Viney. Apparently he got told to tackle softer in the school comp he plays in, much to like and I'm on the viney bandwagon and happy for a first round Draft Pick.

Viney is 176 cm and is a tank in the making. Wojo is 180cm and on the move. Viney is hardly small??. Its not an issue of malice but a charge of reckless. And its hardly a good hip and shoulder if Wojo get a couple of weeks.

I think you are misguided if you think Viney should be doing that. I cant think why Wojo did not actually try and tackle Jack in expectation of the ball getting to Viney.

If a hip and shoulder makes contact with the head and results in a broken jaw...its a cheap and reckless hit. Lets see how the AFL tribunal values it.

Unfortunately they won't......but the VFL tribunal will :)

The head is sacrosanct. It's that simple.

Wojcinski had a duty of care to Viney, that if he had the option to tackle he should, and if he decides to bump, that he must ensure he doesn't make head high contact.

He did, so he goes.

Well Garry Lyon must be misguided too. Most of the 'experts' who saw the footage agreed that it was a little reckless but not malicious.

I hate that our supports are such a pack of nancy snobs

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

I think Kolt looks like he’s im

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
