Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

EnergyWatch Sponsorship Cancelled

I hope I won't just be shot down... but can someone explain to me.

Energy Watch is a company. It's CEO and co-owner was Polis, but it is much more than 1 person. It will continue to function and be the same business now that Polis is out of the picture.

If energy watch sacks him as CEO (already done) and distances itself from him, then why couldn't the club have kept the sponsorship with Energy Watch.

Surely a company is bigger than one employee! Why throw away $6m, when we're in such a precarious position, when we could keep it and just distance ourselves from the one disgusting human being

read my lips P O L I S I S E N E R G Y W A T C H

doesn't matter who they appoint as CEO it's his private company

if he sells off his share in the company then you might have a point

It's just a PR move, unless they sue to remove him from ownership of buy him out they will have Co-Owner Ben Polis on their letterhead.

This bullsh*t about 'due dillegence' is crap.

We are not the only major sporting organisation who signed a deal with them, and as somebody mentioned before, plenty of dodgy companies are currently sponsoring AFL clubs.

How were we to know that their nutbag CEO was going to have a case of verbal vomit?

dead right - even 3AW had his company on their web site

I've always wondered what it means when people say our club doesn't stand for anything. Especially because I couldn't see what any other club stood for. But now I know out club does stand for something - decency.

Also interesting to hear Schwab say in the presser that until a significant amount was paid very recently, Energy Watch was causing concern for being behind in its sponsorship payments.

Possibly better to make a stand, move on and find another sponsor at this time rather than wait for the company for fall over later.

yes. There were many cynical about the viability of Energywatch paying out over the full term. This may be a blessing in disguise - better to be ditcher than ditchee.

He's the owner still and the major shareholder, as DC mentioned.

You can't seperate EW from Polis so easily.

It's just a PR move, EW is still Polis.

Agree. From what I am reading, I think the future of EW is very much in doubt. The big energy companies are distancing themselves from EW and if they do that - the business is dead.

If the MFC did not step away, I believe that EW would have failed anyway and we would still be forced with the problem of finding a new sponsor.

The club could make no other decision on all fronts (commercially, socially and morally). And I am so glad we got to do it on our terms.

Good riddance EW.

In terms of sponsorship now, what would be the preference, given we have both the front and back now vacant?

Just one main sponsor on both the front and back, or a FOJ sponsor and a BOJ sponsor?

Besides the obvious "which ever gets us the most $" which would be preferred. Given China Southern seemed to have pulled out, might they come back if they were offered the whole jumper?

You may wish to send that to Greg Denham, the author of the statement.

so are you suggesting the club hire an extra head - e.g. a Psychiatrist specialising in personality profiling.

or do you think CEOs should have a degree in Psychiatry?

Common sense will do.

Yes. The whole landscape has changed now. I hope REACH stays for this year. Even if it is made smaller to help share space.

Wrong decision Melbourne, he resigned and you still dumped a major sponsor.

The nature of private companies is that they are effectively an extension of the individual. If he was a co-founder, he would own a significant number of the shares, therefore has major voting power in any decisions made by the company. And stepping down as CEO doesn't necessarily mean that he is no longer a director, does it? It was the RIGHT move to make, and I am proud of the club for making it. If this dweeb is still a major player with the company, then why would we want to associate with someone who behaves in this manner. The photo shopped photo of Liam was offensive enough on its own, without anything else.

Sponsorless jumpers are a great idea - it means you wouldn't need to buy a new jumper every year, just a new sponsor patch to sew on!

You're kidding, yes?

He's still owner and major shareholder.

In the presser, Schwab said that they were having issues with this company paying on time.

IMO, I'd be surprised if this company lasts much longer, given the stink around it.

Furthermore, given this week's events, MFC would stench of hypocrisy if they were to even entertain keeping EW as a sponsor.

China Southern didn't pull out, it was a rumour that started on this site. If you read the FOJ sponsor thread you will see it start by a poster suggesting that MFC should target something like a Chinese airline as a sponsor, then it snowballing into being reported on TV and radio. It would be funny if it the sponsorship situation wasn’t so bad. Proves ‘journalists’ read Demonland.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
