Is there any consideration to have a united stand at Jim's funeral tomorrow.

I think this is a great move, even if we consider meeting for a Demonland wake after the event. I also think we should consider getting Jaded or others to design a suitable tie or neck scarf for Demonlanders to wear and be noticed for this type of event. We could recognise each other and be a voice for each other.

Isn't it enough just to wear our scarf for Jimmy.

In thinking about tomorrow, I thought, it may be great to have a united front for this occasion. Your thoughts?

No offence, but I would have thought that every single person attending the service would be united in their grief?

Definately no offence taken, just thought we may consider a meeting place.

I just wish I could attend, but being in Sydney means I will just have to be there in spirit... I do however, hope to make it down for the round 4 clash with the Doggies. Are there any plans for some sort of a meet-up on that day?

I agree, we will be Melbourne supporters, united to honour a great player, President and person...it is not about us

x2.

Its fine to plan to meet afterwards but its not appropriate to draw attention to yourself at a funeral. Its time to honour and pay respect to someone who has an important place in MFC history. Wearing the MFC scarf should be sufficient.

They are expecting a crowd of 10,000 at Federation Square tomorrow. I think it would be very difficult to find anyone.

With all due respect to savoydee there was no turning of attention to oneself she wassimply suggesting to meet up with some demonlanders and mourn with them. No different to meeting your family at the wake... Fine if it's not for you but don't make it out like she's got sinister intentions.

For me it's an appropriate time to celebrate his life where I truly believed was where Jimma start came from in Australia and that's this weekend. An MFC game at the !Mecca of football MCG

A united walk to the G from the Cricketers Arms would be a good time to celebrate his time on earth and the holy ground across the road!! And would be welcomed to meet other brethren b4 the season proper

I will post later in the week on this, when the times appropriate and hope you'll join us

All the best trow to the humble loyal brethren out there and RIP JimmyS

How on earth did you get "sinister intentions" out of what I wrote???? It was simply the choice of the words "united front" that I was responding to... I certainly never insinuated that savoydee had any "sinister intentions" in saying that... but I have no issue with saying that yours is an overreaction.

Chook you obviously knew Jimmy personally & well. And if you did you should be front and centre ! Were all grieving mate

Me on the other hand other than meeting him a few times felt that my best MFC times was together with my fellow demons brethren watching and cheering the incredible feats of the great man. Funerals are to share & remmbere good times with friends and reflect on life So get off your high horse & stop being a morose twit

Wow a lot of fussing over semantics in this thread guys.

But it sounds like we've sorted things.

A drink after together sounds like a great idea if someone wants to make a suggestion, unfortunately I can't be there.

Otherwise we can band together for round 4 because I can't imagine the great man disapproving. Everything he did in life was about getting people together.

No more picking on each other either way, it's ridiculous. Funerals can mean whatever you want as a personal thing, as long as you respect others beliefs.

I am flying to LA @ Midday tommorow & also unable to attend

My thoughts & prayers will be with Big Jim & his family while I am in flight.

Whilst I am grieving tomorrow, I will also be thinking of you.Have a great trip, be safe and enjoy it immensely.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
