Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I wonder if that twerp was still at the club if all the threads would be about his lack of games, heart, spirit, personality, commitment to paying taxes, poor dog ownership, bad haircuts, boring interviews, lack of kicks, too many handballs, being a daddy's boy, poor lawn mowing skills, his fondness of bad beer's,bad handwriting, his infatuation with snooki and his love of nikki webster albums! Gee I am glad his gone.

We've had alot of high picks on the back of some very dubious efforts by both the coach and the team.

We are simply reaping what we sowed. More average to good footballers to take us close but not all the way.

Unless Viney turns out to be as good as hoped and we pick up an elite midfielder we are stuck in mediocrity as always.

Losing Scully was a disaster for the club. He'll be a gun in the next few years.

He may as well be playing for the Ringwood 3rds because it wont affect us .Losing Scully was a necessary part of our march to inevitable Domination and constant victory .

Dribble on Biff if it makes you feel better. The reality remains that we've quite likely wasted several key picks and losing Scully leaves our midfield being led by B and C graders and a bunch of kids. Not ideal.

Cant believe people are still on about this bloke. Let it go. What is sad is that this thread has more posts than the Jimmy thread. FK Me!

We'll Let it Go when we're Good & Ready.

This board continually under-estimates the compensation we managed to achieve for Tom - I have this funny feeling at the end of this season this forums position may change somewhat.

Step 1 is complete we have actiavted both picks

Step 2 we have put 6-7 players on notice.

Step 3 we also let it drop to the wider AFL community we have a bucket load of salary cap space!!!

Step 4 - ??????

While I agree that people can stop posting about when they're good and ready, I am surprised anybody can be bothered with this discussion this week. I certainly can't - I don't have an ounce of energy or emotion for Tom or anything related to him at the moment.

Step 1 - Steal Underpants

Step 2 - ??????

Step 3 - Profit!!

Picks 10 and 14 for a former No.1 pick is not a just trade and our only hope is to get an equally unjust trade with those picks with an interstate club to pick up a kid coming home.

As for the effects on the players and our salary cap room: I don't think the former will have any effect, and I think the latter is completely irrelevant to our comp picks.

What like the former number 1 pick that we used to get our current captain? What pick was he 14ish???

This post re-minds me of a keyboard hero that has no concept of how to gauge future drafts.

Re SC - Had Tom stayed we would be 600K less in our salary cap space. Just think what 600K would get you this year!!!!!

And minus Mitch Clark!

Good point. Mitch is forward loaded - so I doubt we could have taken the risk in grabbing him as well. Especially with the oncoming free-agency.

So its Mitch plus two top quality picks in this years draft (did I mention it could be the best draft ever!!!!)

Really ? I cant understand why students have to study for four to six year course to master it - should be much quicker.

So you think they interviewed him and failed to see the character flaws ? Or saw the character flaws but thought they could change him?

Again there are a plethora of articles and interviews with the kid predraft that speaks of his professionalism and his frenetic energy with training and bettering himself. I will wait for you to point me to any interview or article where there is a hint of a suggestion regarding his character at draft time.

this is pretty simple I think. He was drafted, he got offered to be in the top five paid players in the league. He picked the money. There is no character flaw there. Before you are offered huge money it is really easy to say I dont play for the money. Where he is flawed is that I now believe he lied in his March presser ( albeit in a system that forces players to lie). And there are 6 million reasons that caused this lying to emerge.

So you are aware of how easy it is to judge a character ? For certain patterns of behaviour to emerge defined stimuli are required. (6 million dollars of stimuli). Unless that stimuli existed at draft time then no no no - this judgement of character would not have been as easy and evident as you are making out.

How about talking to someone in the field and get a professional opinion and then you will be in a position to cast a balanced opinion on how easy it is to judge a character and how we failed.

Note - sorry to be so passionate about thisWYL but I think the club should be held accountable for decisions it makes that at the time, with the information and skill at their disposal, was decision that the club ( and most clubs) would not have made.

Szondy's regime allowing a tax bill to sit in a draw unpaid until it incurred huge penalties is something the club should be held accountable for. I just cant see how at the time of drafting we should have walked away from Scully.

Tom $cully made a commitment to money. I agree wirh that, & that is his right.

His character flaw is that he openly lied to all about it, no matter who he spoke to.

Only certain people can do that. As soon as he found out he was going to be drafted he knew exactly what his future was. The MFC was just first base. We haven't heard anything about the knee in 2012 have we...

He did the least amount of work that he could at our club, probably told by his management.

Many clubs may have drafted $cully, & i have no doubt he would have done the same thing.

He is a very smart boy, but all the media articles on him Tom is portrayed as the victim if you read carefully. A very salient point.

I am sure BP recruited Tom with the best intentions, but i am not at all suprised he no longer works for the MFC.

$cully lied to our Presidents face. Says a lot to me. Not many others could do that.

And Jimmy was wise enough to know it, and compassionate enough not to crucify Tom for doing it.

We need to land a gun from one of the new clubs lists. Someone who can lead our midfield to the top. They have to be truly elite or we won't win a flag. simple.

let's hope the club is upto it post Jimma. Might be a good job for one G. Lyon armed with a bucket load of salary cap space. Fingers crossed

We spun a 28 year old, drunken lazy sh!t for Pick 14. He was hardly a 20 year old dedicated professional, albeit mindless simpleton, like Scully.

This post re-minds me of a keyboard hero that has no concept of how to gauge future drafts.

I don't even know what this means. How am I not evaluating future drafts properly?

Port Adelaide came to us with this proposition: Give us Trengove at Pick 2 and we will give you picks 8 and 9.

We said no.

That speaks volumes, or at least it should.

Re SC - Had Tom stayed we would be 600K less in our salary cap space. Just think what 600K would get you this year!!!!!

It got us Clark.

I believe we have more room, due to frontloaded contracts, in 2013 but we will see whether that will be relevant to the trading of our comp picks. It may not, as we may simply get a kid in the 2nd GWS Mini-draft that landed O'Meara for GC. In which case that cap space will not be utilised.

I would prefer they go after a Dangerfield/Gaff/Shuey in trade week with the comp picks and Sewell in FA, but failing that, attempt to spin a pick or both picks for the Mini Draft.

The Super Draft of 2001 © that everyone talks about landed more duds than A grade players from picks 10 to 20.

They are not worth what many think they are worth.

Wow.

That is some rich patronisation there. It's almost as good as when rpfc does it.

I usually back it up with something, but your way is good too...

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
