Fox Footy is back!

Great to see the 24 hour Fox Footy channel returns in February! Just a pity Clinton Grybas isn't around to see it! (Alas, we have to put up with Eddie instead!)

But, the great news is that Fox will show ALL NINE games live every week!! Which means, uninterrupted coverage of every quarter, without those wretched ad breaks after every goal that you get on free to air. And, a reasonable pre-match program as well.

I, for one, like it!!

Bring on 2012!

Anyone else get the email from the club today about the Melbourne foxtel package?

Not sure if its a cheaper deal than normal, but you get a special Melbourne remote, $50 donated to the club by foxtel and a $25 voucher for the MFC store. Not a bad time to sign up if you dont have it, i guess.

No, can you tell me how much the fox was per month?

I'm taking a different tack on this. I've upgraded to a 16 game membership so I can watch all of our Melbourne games & planning on travelling interstate to 3. I of those will be on FTA. I'll miss 1 which I suppose I can see at the pub. I'm only semi-interetsed in seeing other games and some of Fox Footy's shows but until someone at Foxtel wakes up that there is money to be made from people who want ONLY the footy they wont be getting any from me.

From the Foxsports website:

* Fox Footy will launch on air with the exclusive NAB Cup triangular match between Hawthorn, Richmond and North Melbourne on Friday February 17, 2012

* Fox Footy will be a standard inclusion at no extra charge for Foxtel’s basic sports tier in a standard Foxtel broadcast subscription package. Supplemental charges will apply for HD and Xbox customers.

* There is not a match during the home-and-away season that Fox Footy will not broadcast LIVE, in HD and SD UNINTERRUPTED siren to siren. This includes the Anzac day game, Dreamtime at the G, Mother's Day clash, Showdowns, Derbys, Q Clash, Carlton v Collingwood etc. Every match and always LIVE, UNINTERRUPTED and in HD.

* All finals matches (other than the grand final) will be broadcast LIVE, in HD and SD UNINTERRUPTED siren to siren.

* Where there are two games at any one time (for example on a Saturday afternoon), one LIVE game will be on Fox Footy, the other LIVE game will be on Fox Sports 1. Fox Footy will be the channel of destination – Fox Sports 1 will be the channel dealing with LIVE game clashes.

* The NAB Cup is EXCLUSIVE to Foxtel (other than the grand final, which Channel Seven will simulcast withFox Footy) – and Fox Footy will show 29 NAB Cup matches EXCLUSIVE & LIVE, in HD & UNINTERRUPTED siren to siren.

* In Victoria: In a regular nine-game round, the Saturday early afternoon game will be broadcast on a 90-minute delay on Seven. It is LIVE on Fox Footy along with all other eight games in the round.

That's awesome news!!

I love the fact that they're not charging extra for the new channel and that the ch 7 games are shown on Fox without the ads.

Yep! How sweet it is!

I will be interested to know how they will show all 9 games live as there are always games that overlap. They will have to do the "viewer's choice" thing like they often do with the NRL on Fox.

The second game will be on Fox Sports 1...

Wow, that's quite amazing if true. The AFL wil get a lot of exposure on Fox if that is the case.

Thats 100% true. Plus the 7 game on delay will be live on Fox Footy / Fox sports. Cant go wrong!!

If Fox Footy's/Foxtel's goal was to put more pressure on footy fanatics and their relationships with family members within the home......I think they've just about achieved their goal !

As a result, Bunnings shares will also drop during the footy season.

I would wager they will call it Fox AFL is something like that...

Footy has apparently become The World Game exclusive...

then you would do your cash - its officially Fox Footy. Ads on telly and all.

I dont think 7 are doing any games on delay next year? From memory a few of the start times changed so 7 would show them all live

every game live for about 12 bucks a week, am I dreaming?

Yeah, you are. You have to get the base package of $45 and then the extra $16 for sport and that is just the unupdated numbers from their website as there is no sign of the Fox Footy channel in their packages.

So for $732 you can watch it...

There are minimums of 12 months sign-on and $600 plan for Foxtel.

Edit: Got a deal going for newbies - $100 install and $50 general and sport for 12 month minumum.

For a saving of $32...

Oh, and if you are already signed up, this doesn't apply to you...

From a Foxtel ignoramus

I take it this $50 deal is for Std Definition only and no PVR STB?

How much extra for these two features? (or are they one feature?)

Also would it be the same charges for satellite?

Not sure if this answers your question DC, but for Foxtel HD, it's an extra $10 a month. I think it's worth it as you can record things, and the picture quality is excellent (so it should be). I just can't seem to sell the idea to my wife though!

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
