Tom Scully wants to be a GWS Giant for the term of his footballing life

"I know my future's here and I anticipate I'll be here for the rest of my career."

March 5th:

He also said he loved the idea of being a one-club player, which he anticipated would be the case.

"I love the club, I love my teammates and I want to be part of the future going ahead at the Melbourne Football Club," he said.

He's not a very good boy is he?

Maybe he's just had an update on his knee condition?

I believed it the first time he said it - but I am not stupid enough to fall for that "one club player" crap a second time.

Tom - better to say nothing and have people think you are liar and money grabber, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

Playing as the big name in that debacle of a club should ensure 6 years seems like life....especially on one leg.

When I read the thread title I thought it was referring to Phil, then thought 'he won't have a problem there.'

After his dad got the $200K on top of Toms $6million, my view changed to believe GWS added his dad into the mix to get him over the line.

Which I interpret as they really had to throw everything at him in the end. I then lost a lot of my blind fury believing it was a real struggle for him.

Or maybe Im losing my edge....thats possible too.

Guess we'll have to take Tom at his word...

guess we won't - once bitten twice shy

I think he was truthful in that the MFC will be the only football club he plays for throughout his career as GWS doesn't constitute a Club, but a manufactured money wasting franchise that will never encompass the traditions and soul of a Football Club.

or maybe he means his knee is @#%$ed and he will never play for gws?

Things have really gone a bit quiet since the conclusion of trade week. All he's really said in this article is that hopefully he gets to play for GWS for a long time. It's not really newsworthy and he's hardly going to come out and say "I'll be here playing with these stooges until someone offers me and my old man more money". Not many people will be digging up his quotes six years later when he signs with another club.

I look forward to not reading about him on Demonland in the near future, and only having to think about him when I boo him at the G once a year.

If the mugs keep shelling out $1m a year, why not?

On the other hand, if the Wellington Whoppers offer him $3.5m a year in 2017 then why not fly across the Tasman just to have a look around?

"the last five moves have been difficult so I think I will be a Wellington Whopper for life"

The Launceston Lyrebirds will be worth a look at too.

haha...tom is making cash for comment now! what a joke

To be fair, it was actually: Scully said: "I know my future's here and I anticipate I'll be here for the rest of my career."

You can blame the journo for the "Giant for life" comment.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
