IMO Lisle is definitely the right "type" - I've never seen him play, but if we trade for him it means we rate him in that type and I'd be very happy.

We've got thast wrong in the past.

My opinion is that we are better to find our own talent than search around for the dregs of other teams. Clubs don't give good players away unless they have too many of that type or they just don't think theyll make it. Most seem convinced on here that Warnock isn't good enough but he is being sought by some other teams so they must rate him. We know what he can and can't do, they don't.

I'm, over the Holland's and the Heffernans and the Picketts.

You cant play anmore than 22 players a week, so there are always going to be players missing out on a game. The extra players on the list often give you the opportunity to develop players, or at least give someone a chance.

If I had the choice of trying a new player on our list for a couple of year, who has the size of Lisle, against Bate or Dunn, there is no doubt I would trade him in for a late pick or another fringe player.

That being said, I am not fussed either way, I would much rather us get one of the 17 y.o players.

Maybe you've hit the nail on the head right there - Warnock behind Frawley, Rivers and now Tom McDonald - Lisle behind Franklin, Hale and Roughead.

We are developing our own - Cook and Fitzpatrick, but if Lisle is ready-to-go and at the right price then we should pursue him hard.

It's like shooting fish in a barrel to come up with all the reasons why things won't work - you're an Olympic standard shot.

I'd never seen Bailey coach, and because we hired him I thought that meant we rated him, and becuase of that, I was very happy too.

You gotta believe in something - otherwise give up. Bailey did the required job - we've lost nothing and gained plenty.

I notice that you didn't comment on the "or they just don't think theyll make it" part of that sentence. Even with Roughead out for most of the season Lisle played 5 games, one up forward, and four down back, perhaps we can get him as a re[placement for Warnock? What do you think about that?

I believe and support all decisions the MFC make Old55. Some call it fence sitting, some call it keeping my head up my ar$e, I call it supporting my Club!

Like you, I haven't seen Lisle, and if we picked him up, obviously we see something in him and I'm going to support that. And, if we don't pick him up, it means the CLub didn't see enough in him and I'll be grateful that we dodge a bullet!

I know nothing of Lisle but if the same people that have picked up McDonald, Davis, Howe, Bail, McKenzie, Evans and Nicholson (all successful later picks) think he is worth it then I'll back them. We seem very clear in our objectives and could have outbid Adelaide for Crouch but didn't. If we go for Lisle it will be because we think that the price we paid is fair and he's a change to pay off.

Like Old55, if they want him I'm happy.

I wonder now that the Hawks have picked up Gunston, they will be more likely to accept offers regarding Lisle, especially since they have no pick inside the top 50....

Great logic there RobbieF........

I think Lisle is a long shot anyway.

I'm told he has legitimate family links to North and is determined to get there.

I remember his Father Mark when he was at North.

Jordan Lisle is a great mark, but a dodgy kick. He made the 2008 AA u/18 team at CHB. I also saw him kick goals in one of those state matches when he was shifted forward. He's a big bodied 196cm strong forward or back that is well worth pursuing. He's about to enter his 4th year and has clearly struggled to get a game due to Franklin and Roughead. It's not easy as a tall to break into a top 4 team in your third year. When he was given an opportunity he took 32 marks from 5 games as a forward. That's fantastic in your first 5 games. He's not marking chip kicks, they're predominantly strong inside 50 marks.

Footy is heavily influenced by structure these days and game style disciplines. One only has to look at the effect that Hawkins had on the GF when Podsiadly went down. The game changed from that moment. Hawkins was able to slot a few, butcher many, but importantly he was the target that gave his side confidence and opportunities. Lisle would perfectly compliment Watts and our other young forwards and has genuine talent.

He's big, strong, and a great mark. He needs to find consistency, but should be coming into his own. I endorse him as a potential recruit.

Who cares if they are swapping each clubs 30th best player?

Save your ire for deals that are in the least bit important.

Like what we do with the compo or the first round pick.

Come on join in, group hug.

There is a supposed "super draft" next year and I'm sure that Neeld will tell the recruiters what he is looking for so I doubt we will have a problem there. If we use our picks to secure O'Meara I'll be as happy as a pig in straw.

If the club wants to add another player to the list of developing players we have then so be it.

Josh Kennedy says hello ( And Ben McGlyn also waves - although I think he still would be borderlne at Hawks)

Edit - the reason they would be giving Lisle away is the same reason the two above were released - there are players at Hawthorn ahead of them. They gave Kennedy away as they believed there to be better options in the midfield - however it goes back to what I have banged on about for ever and a day - in so many cases, you dont know what you have got until the player reaches 23/24 years of age. Therefore you are at risk trading out these young players that havent reached any sort of maturity

read that and thought the same.

I doubt we'll get him. Our ability to aquire players from other clubs during trade week has been abysmal over the last 4 or so years.

Thats the spirit! :)

Can you blame him? Who have we got in trade week in the last few years as a great trade for us. I said who, not what ( the Brock pick was great and the MFC deserves credit for that).

What about them?

I can't recall acquiring much in any trade period over the last little while. But refresh my memory if you can think of anyone?!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
