What does this say about the state of the MFC?

Top of the line coach, knows coaching job is available, openly courted, declines to go to Perth and deal with the mess that is the Purple Club.

Premiership coach, ex-player, offered five-year massive deal, rejects to stay at his club.

Triple premiership coach, coming out of contract end of season, refusing to coach in 2012.

Premiership coach, cushy media role, refuses to coach.

I want to know why despite all the draft picks and all the [censored] that we've had to deal with over the last three years our club is clearly rated as not good enough to be worth a half decent coach and we seem to be destined to cop yet another untried assistant.

Who says we don't have one already striker. I find it hard to believe that, as is being reported, Melbourne didn't even approach Lyon, we don't already have someone stitched up who we still cannot announce for one reason or the other. I just can't believe we are so amateur to let all this happen.

You are kidding if you think the purple club is a messs. Heaps of injuries this year. Wealthy club in an AFL mad 2 club state.

Clarkson is right in the window for flag if he can keep his best cattle on the track.

We dont know about Malthouse at this stage and wont know until the Pies finals run is finished.

Leigh Matthews does not want to coach.

What does this say about MFC? Nothing really

This is all pretty much due to the knee-jerk reaction of sacking Bailey mid-year w/o any plan.

OK he had to go.

You don't sack unless you have an alternative option well-planned like Essendon with Knights-Hird.

Way to much of the tail wagging the dog. How can the players show leadership in the boardroom if they can't lead on the field?

Who the fark really cares what scully thinks of our management. STFU and play footy!

Both Dockers and Bombers better managed than us - we should look and learn.

In all good clubs - players play footy, accountants do accounting and managers do managing. IF they underperform - get rid of em.

It's all pretty simple really.

Were not a rich club with a high footy department spend.

Our premiership window is at least 5 years away.

We lack unity and purpose.

We tanked and then got shafted rightly or wrongly this makes us look weak.

Our draftees aren't as good as we think they are.

We will have to make do with an untried coach or Viney and we will have to see if this sets us on a path.

Here you go High Tower.

Nutbeans Law - why do you believe all the crap that is written and spoken by journo's and the media at large- there are so many inconsistencies and half truths it is impossible to distinguish fact from fiction.

We offered Clarkson 5 years, Clarkson spoke of interest but no offers. We put an offer to Lyon and Robbo tweets we didnt put an offer to him. Who the hell knows what is true and what is false.

So in four weeks time or earlier we will have a new coach.

If it is not someone special then feel free to moan about

1/ our incompetence at not approaching Lyon or

2/ our ineffectiveness at our attemp to land Lyon if we did approach him

I am happy to whine and moan once I find out who our coach is.I will be happy to draw to some conclusions once I see where all this ends up and who our coach is.

(Sorry HT - a bit long winded)

We will end up with an excellent coach. Even if we don't land a big fish, I reckon we will be just fine.

The assistants available at the moment IMO have the best pedigree of any era I can recall.

We need CC out, a new footy director (Garry full time or someone from outside of the MFC culture), and really solid assistants if it's a 1st time coach. If it's MM, then it will speak for itself.

Maybe we went for the best (Scully) when 2 or 3rd best (Martin) was willing & available?

Maybe we stalled proceedings to find what Everyone else was doing rather than stitching a deal?

Watch the Footy Show...Garry's demeanor should give some answers.

Trivialise suicide that's mighty noble of you. Keyboard warrior aren't you. You know any of the 2500 people that killed themselves last year?

Your lack of tact is disgusting. Pull your head in.

definitely will.. nless he has a GREAT poker face i'm pretty good at picking up on body language. And 90% of what you say you say with your body. So it will be interesting.

Ummm, listen captain high-and-mighty,

if you can prize you head free for just a sec, he was having a crack at your fatalistic, woe-is-me nonsense. Not suicide. Big difference.

He was making fun of you, not death. He was making fun of the way you trivilise every issue by being deplorably melodramatic.

Not suicide.

Take a minute. Take as many as you need.

I would never trivialise suicide dude! I didn't even mention suicide. It was a llight hearted jibe.

And yes I do know of a few people that have taken their own life.

Exactly...Body language will tell us a lot, if Garry is on the back foot...then we are still searching.

If he was never made an offer, then he didn't reject us...pretty simple really. So no judgement on our club from him. Given the speed of this its been planned for a bit. They sealed the deal with Lyon and then booted harvey. Thats even low for a footy club. And I wont be surprised if it was done by the players as they rally run Freo.

It has NOTHING to do with our club, Malthouse was asked last week who he would want to coach and he said MFC, Leigh Mathews was asked after he heard about Harvey being sacked and still said MFC is the club to coach, Lyon has gone simply because of MONEY, nothing more nothing less. He is going to get twice as much as we could give him, end of story and good riddance.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
