The Mitch Clark Thread

Heart Beats True

stef martin was more of a backman than up forward so we could throw him down there... look at collingwood with cloke, dawes, leigh brown and jolly its a similar set up really.

In the immediate future this pushes Martin out, right?

I'm confused, how does this work.. he is a ruckman who can play forward but apparently better in the ruck. Do we make Jamar the stay at home forward and let Clark take over rudck duties or do we just plonk Clark in the square and use him as the stay at home forward.

Can we play Jamar Martin and Clark in the same team?

Thread needed on how this impacts our current ruck stocks please.

Ask Essendon *tongue in cheek* it's not like for like... i'd think 1 principle ruck and 2x versatile types vs 3 primary rucks.

is semi discussed early, last thing we need is another thread surely

Noted.

I wait for the next "our jumpers are pink" or "lets draft Mckinley" thread with baited breath..

This is what I'm thinking may happen.

Clark as a forward/ruck

Jamar as major ruck/resting FP

Martin as a backman/ruck

Surely that'll give us some sort of advantage at stoppages, as long as Jamar can teach the others the telepathy trick he has going with Moloney.

Valid point I just didn't want the discussion to get lost amongst all the other talk.

Surely this means bye bye Spencil and when Gawn is ready bye bye Jamar.

We should look to trade Jamar soon whilst he still has some currency. Pretty sure there will be a lot of takers. AA ruckman- package him up with a compo pick and the skies the limit.

We have the cash to burn and the picks to please Brisbane, so the only factor in this not happening is Clark not wanting to come to the most kick arse club in the world.

Done deal!

Um, Lets just see if we actually get him first.

I doubt he will come to us..

If getting home was the issue, then we miss out

If getting out of the lions was the issue, then I bet GWS has already had a go at him, and heaps more coin than us; again we miss out

Valid points.

Maybe he just wanted a change of scenery...

And GWS does still have it's cons. I just have a good feeling about getting Clark for some reason.

This is the thing - we are not getting anything done! Missed out on the Mini Draft and now wasting time on a bloke that wants to live in WA and isn't that good. It's 4.20 pm on Thursday and so far we've got nothing! We've only got tomorrow and Monday. Time is ticking and we are wasting it.

There's also Saturday & Sunday for contemplation...

See ya mate. Kim Hangdom is a joke!!! Get's some wrong - that's the understatement of the year!!! WOW - reporting that Scully had left the building ages ago - as if that wasn't common knowledge!!! This is the same [censored] that said Lyon was signed, sealed and delivered when we haven't even spoken to him. He wrote an article saying that Neil Craig had landed at the Blues only to write another article 30 minutes later stating he was at Melbourne... Please excuse me for not buying into his rubbish. If you want to then by all means....

feeling suitablly sheepish yet.lol

What about offering one of our compo picks and keeping pick 12 this year and throwing in the Queensland born Spencer to solve their ruck problem and getting Lions 2nd round pick back. Alternatively offer Spencer and 12 for their 2nd pick back.

Don't want to be greedy but picking up Greene with pick 12 this year would be a bonus in my eyes. A compo pick, say pick 9 in next years draft might get the deal done.

With regard where players would end up I still think that Jackie Watts would be a very good KPP defender and Jamar/Martin ruck combo changing in the forward line. Jolly plays forward and they have Cloke and Dawes down there. Ottens plays forward and they have Pods and Hawkins there.

Havnt seen you all over a young kid like i have Greene before RF any reason?

i would like to recruit 3 first round midfielders in the next 2 drafts if possible including Viney

Take Clark, trade Jamar out at the end of 2012 for a high pick in that draft. Leaving us say pick 6 or 7 for Jamar, 2 x compo picks, take Viney and 2 other premium mids, Promote Gawn, play Clark, Gawn and Martin from 2013 onwards. So simple it's brilliant

Having Clark wouldn't impact on the Jamar/Martin duo at all. He's a forward that can ruck. He had the break out year as Brisbane's ruck due to no other rucks being available. They had Leuenberger this year, and they played Clark as a forward. Alongside Brown when he played. He would push out one of our Mid sized forwards. He'd be a great pick up and would be insurance on match day incase one of Jamar or Martin went down.

He's a ball magnet, his skill is good and he's tough. Just like the way he goes about it.

Jamar and Martin are going nowhere. We would be chasing Clark to play as a forward imo. We couldn't prise Dawes out of Collingwood so we're throwing that coin at Clark.

Jolly, Brown, Cloke and Dawes all played within their structure, that'll be Jamar, Martin, Clark and Watts for us. For the moment Spencer is depth and Gawn is developing.

Pretty sure I heard on trade week radio that Freo had offered Clark more money to return home and that's why he wanted to go there and not to WC. He may not have been so keen to get home if the lucrative contract wasn't on offer. Now we've signifigantly upped the ante, and if Clark was more keen on Freo's money than the Perth sunshine we may have finally nabbed our big forward. He's 24 and has 80 odd games under his belt, just about to hit his straps and will still be around when we start to threaten. This will be a good get if we can get it over the line

The important thing to remember is that Clark is being sought because it's deemed by Mark Neeld that he'll be valuable to the structure and gameplan that he wants to implement. Clearly the club wants to give Neeld every opportunity to succeed. The concept of getting Clark appeals to me as I like him as a footballer and believe he'll compliment our forward line while providing ruck relief.

Clark is roughly 198-200 cms tall and a better player than David Hale, who proved valuable to Hawthorn this year. He's also coming into his prime. There's no doubt he's a talent, but he's also been inconsistent. I'm pretty confident that the Mitchell Clark of 24-28 will be a significantly better player than the Mitch Clark of 20-23. It's not easy for clubs to get their hands on ready made talent, especially those of the tall variety, so not only do Melbourne improve their playing stocks they also gain ground on opposition clubs.

That said, Freo are no doubt favourite to gain his services. However, if we do land him it will be seen to be a massive coup.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
