  1. Just wanted to share my experience... I just got married on Saturday night and my wife planned a surprise visit from Luke Tapscott!!!! hahahaha He came in looking like an absolute picture of health, muscles were just incredibly massive...I don't know if you guys have seen him up close recently but he is so so massive it isn't funny... He came in taking the microphone saying that your wife mentioned how much of a passionate supporter you were and wished me all the best in life and hopefully they could win a few games for us next season! Handed me a framed squad photo signed by the team and got some photos with him and had a good chat to him one on one and with all the family who are melbourne supporters.. Incredibly nice bloke... He mentioned that the mature age blokes have been brought in to pile pressure onto players that have been getting "comfortable" for a number of seasons...And he said that Neeld has sorted a lot of blokes out.....And i asked him who and he just said "a lot of blokes" again.... He said the training was incredibly tough but the guys are responding very well to it.. Just thought i would share some info with you guys..
  2. This word overs is subjective... And personally for a club that is intent on changing a mediocre culture, who have a list that are talented but have been developed to an inferior style and structure by the old coaching regime....The word "overs" for Melbourne is and should be non existent... The slogan is "Whatever it takes" ....We needed a KPF that will give us structure and enable our other talented forward to suceed...Clark being there will create greater structure.... Couldn't care less what people think of Clark...If you are not a Melbourne supporter you will think that Melbourne paid "overs" for the guy......If you are a Melbourne supporter and you say MFC paid "overs" for Clark, i think it is pure ignorance to not see what this acquisition does for our club...Both on and off the field...all of a sudden its not little old Melbourne anymore...
  3. Well....Not to gloat....But i just thought I would check out what the Fremantle supporters think of the MFC stealing Mitch away from their club.. 1 day ago... freofan58 Posted: 1 Day, 7 Hours ago Re:Clark Deal Done? #375907 Hope this deal gets done. It is refreshing to hear a player express himself so well, particularly the way he thanked the Dees for their generous offer but stating that it isn't always about the money and that he just wants to return back to WA and play for Freo. 4 hours ago.... Cuppabear Posted: 4 Hours, 36 Minutes ago Re:Clark Deal Done? #376009 Sucked in Melbourne I say... spending $500,000/year for 4 years on a bloke who's most notable act on the field this year was smash Jonathon Brown's face (injuring himself in the process) and lie on the ground waiting for someone to check up on him while the whole medical team, runners, waterboys rushing to the captain's aid. Seriously...this is just a snapshot of what was said.... "Demons paid overs for an average player" " Demons are getting a bloke who sold his granny for cash" "Pick 12 and $$$$ for a player that hasn't proved himself" Do opposing fans realise how young our team is? How many quality picks we have gotten over the years? Where our list is at the moment? Getting someone of his calibre to give us more structure and a focal point was crucial! Paying "overs" and giving away pick 12 (by the way we got 2 first rounders for Scully) it is a WIN - WIN! Great day for the MFC! We needed to respond after a terrible year and with a new coach, new attitude and our recruiters working some magic, the demons are making some serious statements..
  4. A great day for MFC. Losing Scully was the best thing that ever happened to us. Took Neeld when a lot of clubs wanted him...Took Craig when high profile clubs wanted him....Took Misson from a high profile team....And now poach a player with great potential, size, athleticism, goal sense, marking ability.. Our forward line looks impressive now...
  5. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/brisbane-big-man-mitch-clark-in-line-for-3m-payday/story-fn69a32t-1226166306148 Sounds like it is going down to the wire....Hopefully money is more important than family for Mitch Also, Dogs offered pick 39 for Bate.....Dees want a first round for him....Good luck...
  6. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/more-action-to-come-on-day-four/story-fn69a32t-1226165490224 500k a season..... Was misreported....much easier pill to swallow... Hopefully that is enough to grab him with pick/s involved.
  7. I believe Trade Week Radio as they are reporting things as they come in...should check into it..
  8. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/more-action-to-come-on-day-four/story-fn69a32t-1226165490224 A reported 800k a season for 4 years? I applaud the department making a statement, as it serves as a two fold solution to : A - Everyone knowing we need a BIG FORWARD and B - After getting raped by GWS for Scully.... BUT, 800k a season for 4 years? For Mitch Clark? I associate this sort of money with a GREAT player....not a player that I would classify as a GOOD player....He has a lot of upside as he is still young...but dear lord...this is silly money i feel... If we get him fantastic, but definitely at a high price that will also include our top picks thats for sure..
  9. I agree that we should be going for Clark...our forward line would look much better.. But, surely Brisbane are using our interest as a smokescreen to invite Fremantle to offer more than just pick 16....Mitch has already stated his desire to move back to WA....and has done so for a few seasons.... Personally, i think we are getting shafted here...false hope..
  10. He is actually 23yrs old! Will be 24yrs old in a few days... Seems like he has been around forever, but i am skeptical that he has always stated now and previously that he wanted to move back to WA.....so not sure about this one....If he agrees to come to Melbourne it would be somewhat of a coup that's for sure...
  11. So, the question is, given that we have 2 first round draft picks from the Scully compensation....and our first pick is pick 12....we really can make a bit of a statement this coming draft with 3 picks inside top 15 if i understand correctly (if we wanted to of course) For me, not entirely understanding the young hopefuls within the upcoming draft, is it worth us using all our picks now? Or waiting for the next draft where it is uncompromised? Thoughts?
  12. Not really sure how i feel about it to be honest... Wouldn't be annoyed or angry about it.... He does have the credentials... Just think that he is at GWS long term... Am sure he is on decent money there as well..
  13. Agreed. Fremantle can expect a whole lot of memberships handed in! A lot of Freo supporters are ropeable at the way this was executed... The way I see it, it is a very gutsy move by Fremantle as it definitely is quite a coup...But was executed poorly... Dockers have probably played their best under Harvey and the injuries he has had to deal with all year really did hurt their chances going into the last patch of the year.. In any case, I think it is a massive statement of intent from Fremantle to get one of the best coaches going around...But perhaps they have now given the media a huge reason to focus on them for 2012..
  14. Would be a VERY interesting reunion between Malthouse and the Tip Rat Milne if MM was to go to the Saints! hahaha I think this is a massive longshot! The whole article is a chance for Grant Thomas to have another dip at St.Kilda...No doubt he does make sense on a lot of points here, but don't think there is much credence to MM going to St.Kilda..
  15. This means that MFC's decision to sack Bailey, is overshadowed by this disaster from Fremantle...For once we can leave the turmoil to other clubs..In this case Fremantle and St.Kilda. We still have a lot to work through and until we secure a coach we will be in the media... But there is definite questions on the nature of how this was handled from all parties for Fremantle, St.Kilda and Ross Lyon.. I can tell you that looking at Fremantle's Forum, there is a MASSIVE outcry with Harvey's sacking! Fremantle CEO Rosich, posted the below on Freo's Website : “It was an extremely difficult decision to make but after lengthy consideration it is a decision that we believe is in the best interests of the long-term future of the Fremantle Football Club,” Rosich said. “We are very grateful for everything that Mark has done during his six years at the club and wish Mark all the best for the future, both personally and professionally.” Many Fremantle Members are posting the "tearing up my membership" saying CEO Rosich is a backstabber....Harvey was quite well liked it seems...And you have to admit he really did have a lot of injuries come finals time this season! Was very unlucky i think! I am always for any news in the media that is NOT about Melbourne.....But, even still with this news it is about "Were Melbourne too slow to act to - get their man?" said Mike Sheehan! Until we get a coach, the speculation will end..
  16. I am sure you were waiting for this... Not sure if you happened to catch the draft... I believe Tapscott went at 18? Your a moron...Maybe you needed an extra year of that footy experience? Take a look at the Luke Tapscott thread and see how many people in the know are happy with his appointment.. L J 1 - Scully to Watts 0
  17. And if you read my post, I also said that he is known to have a massive kick...entries into 50 are a major strength, strong and known to the be best kick in the draft..also likened to Leigh Matthews which is a decent wrap... As for you illustrious 15 year career at a "decent level"...maybe you should enter the draft? I get the feeling you may introduce yourself to people and say you played footy for 15 years..very impressive mate.. As for he won't be in the top 20...definitely will see on the night...in any case, thats not what i debated..i debated, we need a player like him, his ability, physique and competitiveness..
  18. Have you actually watched him play? Not only does he have good acceleration, but he is a great overhead and contested mark...and has a thumping kick and is a multiple goal scorer... Now go through our list...We now have a young list...Who are also skinny and need to fill out..Watts..Morton..Bleese...the list goes on..You need to have some players that have some size... Daniel Rich had size when he was playing before he was drafted....how is he managing? "will just be another well built player among many" very naive comment..
  19. Gawn does look impressive.. But I think he will go closer to 30ish... As Burgan has it, Tapscott at 19? I don't believe it..I guy built like that, in the All Australian team, noted as the best kick in the draft...Sure if he is available at that pick we would be crazy not to pick him...I don't think anyone is going to pick a Ruckman at 18 in this draft.. Port will probably pick up either Vardy or Gawn..but I honestly don't think we will pick up Gawn at 18.. This would be a dream draft for us : 1 Scully 2 Trengove 11 Tallia - If he is available at # 11 18 Tapscott - If he is available at # 18..Doubt it 34 Gawn or Taylor - Either or would be a great pick up.. 50 Patrick - If he lasts to 50...I think he will go earlier.. PSD McDonald
  20. In the All Australia U18...Described at draft camp as the new Leigh Matthews..Fairly decent wrap... If you haven't watched him play you are missing a lot.. Very very well built for his age..tough..strong..good overhead...very long kick...good goal sense.. We need players that have some balk...we can't have 20 skinny kids running around..he already has a made body..and can play straight away.. I would pick him up at 11 if he was still there...I think he will get snapped up by Port..
  21. Your kidding right? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwayne_Russell Journalist...radio...tv... The Age,3AW, Fox Sports? also played for geelong for a brief period? Anyway, watch us play on Fox Sports..he loves tearing through us..
  22. If you want a demon hater listen to Dwayne Russell...possibly the biggest loser of all time..
  23. Did you think that maybe given hawks may want to clear some salary cap room? Now with Burgoyne on board, with a host of others Hodge,Franklin,Roughead etc i am sure they would of been keen to offload someone was on the outer anyway...this way the hawks have 5 selections in this years draft.. wouldn't totally put it down to how 'unwanted' he was..
  24. Gents, we picked up Jurrah # 1 in the PSD last year... So it doesnt have to be a big name....Jurrah i believe was a Pick 1 in any draft...so we struck gold there.. Ball would be great..but if we unearth some younger talent like Jurrah...the recruiters have done justice for the club...
  25. Exactly! They are offloading depth! And young talent.. And as we know, and the Hawks know, with so many injuries, depth is so important... People like Kennedy and McGlynn especially saved them to a degree... They are going to pay the hawks bigtime... Sure Burgoyne is a good player but certainly in 2 seasons hasn't played his best football..
