Alright - its time to think three years time - who is going to be the Next Big Thing.

I'm going with Jeremy Howe. He will be Robbo mark 2 except he has already shown he is prepared to do the little extra team things that may have been missing in Robbo's game ( no disrespect Robbo - you were great !).

To make it interesting - outside our beloved Demons - who in another club is the NBT - out of left field - Harley Bennell.

Who is your next big thing ( both MFC and other)?

We haven't really had a "big thing" (i.e. genuine superstar) in donkey's years. However, I would be extremely surprised if Jack Watts isn't taking the [censored] out of the competition in 3 years time.

Agree that a dark horse could be Jeremy Howe.

From the rest of the comp, I think Dustin Martin is going to be something very special for the Tiges.

Jack Trengove (Jimmy Bartel meets James Hird) & Allen Christensen (Andrew McLeod meets Dean Rioli).

IMO Watts has the most potential to be a superstar. I think him, Trengove, Scully all have the highest potential to become elite. Smokey's for elite status IMO would be Blease, Gys, Frawley, Garland, Grimes (in that order)

Frawley will be remembered as one of the all time great defenders. He will only get better, especially as he matures (mentally).

I have seen nothing of Gysberts to suggest to me that he will be the next big thing. There, I've put mine on the line!

Zac Smith should win the Rising Start this year. I made the call half way through their first game against Carlton tha the will be a superstar of the comp - wont be out of place being mentioned in the same breath as Sandilands.

He'll still be a bit green...but im looking very much forward to Jack Viney exploding on the scene. Heres an express train, bull at a gate , waiting to happen. :)

Im figuring hell be leaving no one in doubt as to his credentials or belonging.

Liam Jurrah to move to wing and be Robert Floweresque. Scully at GWS (if he goes...)

The best player in the AFL in 2014 will be Tom Scully.

If he's with the Dees (which I think he will), then NikNat will be the NBT from elsewhere.

If he's not, then Jack Watts will be the one to tear it up for the Dees.

And the one player I'd really love to see crack it big time is Majak Daw - it would open the floodgates.

If Frawley is not already regarded as elite I'll eat my hat. I truly would not prefer a defender in the competition over James Frawley to lead a premiership backline. The only slight weakness he has is his kicking.

Great post NB

from the dees it will be Jack Mega Watts to be the next to tear the league to shreds

from outside the dees i think Jack Redden is the next Michael Voss

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025.
