I keep on hearing that there the administration at Melbourne is a basketcase.

Lethal has apparently said a coach would have to be an imbicile to take on the job at Melbourne until the admin istration is sorted.

Patrick Smith gets way stuck into the administration every time Melbourne is mentioned.

BUT

The Board have only brought in Gary Lyon to look at Football Operations, not the administration.

AND

I don't see anyone talking about WHAT the problems are.

If the administration is a mess then we should be hearing about it in detail and we should be looking to the board to resolve it.

Is anyone else worried about this as well?

You raise an excellent point - all of these media vultures are talking about it as if they KNOW something - and yet, if they did, it would be dribbling down their chins!

Where are the 'facts' that we are a basket case? If we are, I want to know WHAT is going on.

Time for the hacks to put up or shut up.

The sky is not falling, the media love a bad news story, just look at the Herald Sun today with the Bulldogs, who are now also falling apart at the seams.

I will accept Don McLardy at his word, he said "there are issues, not as bad as in the press, and we will sort them out"

If the administration was in such a mess we wouldn't have record sponsorship dollars, record membership, our players would still be battling the possums and rats at the Junction Oval instead of training within the state-of-the-art facilities at the rectangular stadium, etc, etc, etc...

Full credit must go to Jimmy and the Board - and especially Don McLardy who has stepped into Jim's shoes when the big man hasn't been available - for the great job they've done.

Why does everyone believe everything they hear/read from the media? Look at the facts instead of journalists' speculation.

But the performance on field could indicate issues between the administration and the football department, or just the football department itself and how it is run.

Here on the outside we lack enough information to fully understand where the issues lie, but we'd be silly to assume there are none.

That's not to say the issues can't be resolved quickly or without a turnover of staff (beyond the current changes).

The 'issue' could be that we didn't have a senior coach and assistant coaches who were capable of bringing out the best in the players.

Wow. $15mil? The club's initials wouldn't be "P" and "ort Adelaide", would they?

No wonder Haysman and Duncanson have been / are being shown the door.

It's really going to sting next year once the players' new CBA dictates that 100% of the salary cap must be paid.

Speaking of what is happening at the club.

What has happened to the $1.9 million sponsership deal?

This store is as cold as the grave and so far has the same amount of money in it.

I doubt that sort of thing would be announced mid season, we have major sponsors for 2011 and thats what they are paying for, any announcement would be quite crude towards their interested imo

Can wait till offseason

I understand that element.

However I am beginning to wonder if it was leaked to give some good news a couple of weeks ago when it was all hitting the fan.

What will the leak be on Monday after we lose to the Tigers.

It's the wrong time of the season to talk and change Administration, as there in the midst of contract negotiations and private details of players and contracts.

Right now we have to sign up players and prepare to recruit, maybe some mature players from within the AFL. Also the Coach's contracts.

After the draft has concluded would be the time to sort the hard internal issues. NOT now.

Please tell me to what benefit would it be to air all our dirty linen in the public. How is that going to help us attract new sponsorship/memberships next year.

Gary is not just there for the footy department as the problems were somewhat between the FD and GA so whatever he takes back to the Board will impact on both dept's.

The Board will deal with it in-house and that is exactly where it should stay. I am sure tidbits will come out and there will be speculation just like there is with Eddie and Malthouse but strong clubs do not discuss internal problems with the Media.

I for one am happy for it to stay in-house despite wanting to know what the exact problems are just as desperately like everyone here.

The trouble is that things have come out. Someone on the inside ( or perhaps more than one?) has blabbed.

How is it that everyone seems to know that Schwab had effectively been sacked before the Geelong game? How did it get out that Hankook were unhappy? How did it become known that the players were summonsed to speak to the Board?

Part of our problem is that we have been leaking like a sieve - to the point that the club is under pressure to answer questions that should never have arisen. One of the things Gary needs to do is weed out the leak

Can anyone point to where he said this. I would like to see the full story.

Conolly and Schwabb wanted Bailey gone. Connolly didn't like the way Bailey coached in the form of not a defensive plan just all out attack through the corrider. Schwabb wanted him sacked after bulldogs game this is why it was thought schwabb was gone at the geelong game. Board realised soon after schwabb was probably right.

In retrospect I agree - would just be good to see some sign! But I have waited so many years so far that I suppose I can wait until the AGM.

It's all scuttlebutt.

The media love these things. After an event, such as the demise of a coach, they are experts on the affairs of the club concerned. Suddenly they know all kinds of earth-shattering things that strangely didn't get a mention the week before.

If you believed everything written in the papers, you'd go mad.

No, I am not worried.

Let's get a good coach and march on.

Good point dee

I think that's basically what's happening down there. No point spilling all the dirty stuff at a time that key peeps are needing to focus. Especially with a caretaker coach and post dark Saturday.

Wouldn't want the on field melt down to manifest itself off field shortly after. The on field (and the off field on field lol - eg., re-signing/trades etc) could've gone horribly pear shaped.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
