Chris Dawes

On The Footy Show last night, Chris Dawes said he is out of contract. What do people think about throwing some cash his way? No way the pies could offer him more, he did say he wants to stay at Collingwood but money talks what would we have to give up to get him in a dees jumper

thoughts????

yea i rate him 2 but does he look better than he is because of the team he plays in would he struggle at the dees

Agree, there would be quite a few "I rate" players in our team that would look far more accomplished and complete if they played for Collingwood. But I like his character.

I would be far more interested in Sam Reid from the Swans.... He has just about the best hands in the comp, is out of contract now and can add at least 8 kg's to his frame.

Watts, Reid and Jurrah getting the third defender would be unstoppable in a few years.

If you don't know what I am talking about, just watch the Swans when they play next. Reid is going to be a top 3 KPP in the league.

Agreed, going to be a star.

I agree but there is no way the swans will give up a promising young key position player like Sam Reid. He will be re-signed in the very near future.

I like the idea of Chris Dawes. Good bloke, good player and would give us a big body up forward. Again cant see Collingwood letting him go. They will find the cash for him.

I would like him, but it seems to me like the club is gearing themselves up for free agency when we'll be able to pick up these sorts (or slightly older) without having to trade away picks. And I doubt the pies would let him go cheaply.

Both Dawes and Reid will tied up financially well by both their Clubs. Reid is going to be very good in future years. Only his 2nd year and he looks exciting.

Reid at the Swans is making Jesse White a redundant. But I am not a fan of White.

Why not go for Jesse White who can play a very similiar role to Dawes?

People bag Jesse White but Dawes also is not a natural talent but very important to the pies structure. If you look at Dawes output for the amount of delivery he gets, he does not set the world on fire, but he does bring a contest to allow the smalls to wreak havoc. Why couldn't White for us?

I really don't think we will progress unless we can get 1 or 2 key positions of decent size to help straighten us up.

We nearly had him a a couple of years ago during the trade period.... apparently fell over at the last minute.. Would be perfect in the square for us at the minute.

His size atmo would be handy in our forward zone, but we don't yet know what we already have @ our beck & call. You'all are talking about next year,,, & we have quite a few tall key players we have to bring through next year. Cook looks like a beauty & Davis plays really strongly down back, and Macdonald plays well either end. They'll needs opportunities to fill and have a go.

IMO we should still look to fill our requirements in our smalls and classy mids.

From what I have seen is an appalling kick for goal. Great hands though.

So we're too impatient to wait for Cook, McDonald, Fitzpatrick, Howe et al?

The chances of prising Dawes out of Collingwood are "Buckley's".

Yes some are impatient, you must remember the glass is always half empty with MFC supporters, Fitzpatrick is back again this week at Casey so hopefully his atrocious run with injuries is over

Fitzpatrick is one I'm hoping will rise through Casey next season.

IMO Cook will be in the seniors next year along with Davis down back. Fev will be on an AFL list,,,, and Fitzy IMO, will be bigger in upper body And we'll need him to start his push towards AFL games...

Warnock and I think Timmy Mohr will be gone to AFL, so along with Fev,, there will be gaps for Talls to show their stuff.

I think the Forwardline will consist of both Fitzpatrick and Macdonald. plus Lawrence creating havoc.

Never understood some of the fuss on here over Jesse White.

Decidedly average, in my view.

Sam Reid looks great... until he kicks it.

Don't anoint him a superstar just yet.................

Over the last few years we have picked mainly skinny kids to fill major forward position e.g Cook.

I will be very surprised if he was to have a big impact at senior level before 2014.

That is 3 seasons /60 + games away what do we do in the mean time?

Fitzpatrick looks to be injury prone, hope he comes on but has not shown so far he is good chance.

Yes you are correct I am impatient, 45 years and counting!

Personally, I'd be happy with Dawes or White.

But who would they replace in the side, that you'd be happy to lose for their presence?

I'd want someone better than White.

Dawes I'm not sold on either - he has the benefit of Cloke next to him.

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
